Root I need some help on rooting

Alright well i have the Moto Droid with the Build FRG38D and ive been reading forms here but none are a great help.
i want to root it so i can put a miui file on my phone all any help i can get would be great!
and if possible id like to do it the safiest way.
PLEASE HELP! :D
