I thought the same thing...he finally got it...should be interesting to see the results although they may be a little skewed due to the "newness" of 2.1 to 1.5ers...I wouldn't be surprised if the majority said "it was worth the wait".....or maybe most of us on here are leakers lol

i have nothing. i never did the leaks. had a terrible time trying to do the manual. so i have nothing

Buck up little camper.

You still have your Eris and you still have us. That's something. :D

I'm sure the OTA fairy will come to your house soon.

The other poll, asking if the OTA was obtained while you had 1.5, v1, v2 or v3, seems to have been skewed by misunderstandings of the way the poll query was written, as well as at least one user admitting to lying in his response.

I was thinking a simpler approach might help us see just how many really do have the OTA as sent to them rather than a leak or stolen phone or whatever. :D

Where is my voice to text!
This is the only feature that made me interested in 2.1 and it's not included in the update.

**** Verizon wireless! I'll bet they prevented it from being included to save on data.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is an update patch of some sort in the future...who knows...very misleading though

I cant really say it was worth the wait, because cell phones arent really my hobby. Somehow these boards got me hooked on waiting for it, and I only say it wasnt worth it because I really cant imagine anything cell phone related that can live up to all the months of waiting (since November).
So... Maybe if I was one of those techy people...
However, I must say that I do not mean to take anything away from the greatness of this update. After all the waiting, I am at least happy with the end result. Today strangely to me was still an exciting day! It is what I have spent months waiting for after all, and it is everything I have been expecting. It certainly did not disappoint. I love the improvements/new features. Voice to text and nav were my main reasons for looking forward to this, and I now have both.
I also downloaded epocratese and it already came in handy. Really enjoying the new 2.1 apps and widgets already.
I did get the 50% bug, it seems to have no effect on anything, and functionally my phone is still perfect. Just as it was with 1.5
With all that said, worth the wait was the best choice for me. That is what I voted.

:( Still don't fit in to any of these threads or polls... but I'm stubborn/ patient. Soon enough, soon enough. I must resist temptation... must! :D

My wife like's it. She wouldn't let me put one of the leaks on her phone, so she's been stuck with 1.5 for awhile. She was almost swayed when I showed off the v3 leak, but held strong. Now that she has 2.1 she's content.

I on the other hand, was hoping for at least some differences between v3 and the official release, but as far as I can tell there aren't any. Business as usual for me.

Just found out for those who waited got the GOLDEN EGG.if you have the OTA 2.1 you can now root your phone also :(

I guess for some that is important, but to me the phone does enough that I don't feel that root is necessary. Sure, deleting some of the default apps would be nice, but other than that the phone does everything I would ever want it to without root.

I think it'd be a bit different if Android was a closed system like the iPhone where you needed to jailbreak or root to be able to do basic things that you might want, like access unapproved apps.

Either way, In a couple of weeks I have a feeling everyone will be on the official release, one way or the other.

not sure who the gentleman was though
This thread (below), and the one linked in the 1st post of it is where it was figured out that it can be done. Through a team effort, mostly lead by the brain of pkopalek, and the bravery of ssgtob1

It was this gentleman who actually completed the whole process first.

I think I'll probably root eventually, which is one of the reasons I tell myself I've waited. I'm probably going to hold on to this baby for another 1 to 1.5 years, so being able to root and play around is going to help to keep things new and interesting.

i hope so,i am one of those people with the 2.1 V3 and i hate the dialer lag.ive went into the edit and changed it and it still didnt help :(

For me 2.1 was anti-climatic. I kind of figured it would be after I played with my Brother in laws incredible a week ago and realized it was the same phone just a little faster. For me Helicopter mode and a new market doesn't do a whole lot for me and neither does NAV because my car already has gps. 2.1 isn't bad and my phone still works great it just isn't all that different. I think root may be in my cards for the future depending on what ROMS get cooked up.
