i or I ???

Hi,

I've always had this little problem with my Hero (currently on 2.1) which is that when typing text using the Touchpad keyboard the only way to get a lower case "i" within a word is to type " is" and then delete the space and the "s". On rare occasions I can get a lower case "i" without doing that but usually I can't. It happens when I am writing texts, mails, inputting text into a search box in Google or Wiki or anything else. E.g. I type "sometimes" and it comes out as "sometImes".

Is it just my phone? Is there a cure?

I have a custom rom now so am not using the HTC keyboard anymore but yes I noticed this as well. However I think it is correct English to have an upper case 'I' so I just put it down to that.

Edit: just re read your post ie sometImes, have you saved it accidently so it keeps doing it every time.

Thanks RemArcs, I'm glad it isn't just my phone. I do check the custom dictionary from time to time to delete words like grishfgbv which get accidentally saved for some reason :D but there is never anything in the custom dictionary that would explain the upper case "i". Perhaps there are errors in the main HTC dictionary?

Hi, I've just checked mine for you and found no issues, the small i comes up as it should.
Thanks for checking. I think mine mainly switches to "I" when I'm using non predictive text, usually to enter a password.

I am wondering it the phone doesn't know that if there's another letter immediately to the left on an "i", the "i" should not be capitalised. But I didn't think it would use a dictionary or follow any rules with non predictive text.
