Resolution is a tricky thing.
I often say that we all see differently.
In our society, we pay homage to that, but we sometimes take it as a quality metric - not only of the phone, but of ourselves and others.
When I say it, I refer to studies of our eyes down to the quantum level, because such studies have been done.
Yes, smaller displays are crisper. Yes, comparative norms exist (no one sees a massive star or even full galaxy as anything other than a pixel in the night sky).
But beyond that, all pixel and dpi (ppi) discussions can only involve numbers near to some average for the human population.
For some people, 800x480 at 4.3" is great, for others, the iPhone is still too coarse.
That isn't a statement of quality of eyesight or perception, merely the outcome of a single measure for a person's eyes.
There are many other equally important measures.
Until you can't tell that it's a display, the perfect display doesn't exist.
Therefore, we will have our differences on screen preferences.

So exactly why did you switch phones!?
Same reason I went thru a evo 4g, shift, 3d, epic touch, iPhone 4s and now back to the evo. I have issues lol.

Is this the place to ask, "Do you expect any kind of imrovement on 3G capability with this Phone?" I mean in terms of, well, anything. Building penetration, strength from tower, speed, etc. Noob Q, I know, and don't mean to contaminate the thread.
This will be one of those questions that is impossible to predict prior to the phone's release. Historically, there hasn't been a correlation with how "new" a phone is and its RF performance (as some older phones have great 3G, some newer ones have worse 3G). Some predict that because of the aluminum unibody, the LTEvo could have worse RF performance than say, the all-polymer HTC One X, but it's all complete speculation at this point (the LTEvo has its antennas in the plastic portion, but who knows how it will impact performance.)
i think you want to research into the sprint's new Network Vision. that is the current upgrade plans to all the sprint towers. to a new tech.. and stuff.
this will be your major source of better performance in the new future. depending where you live.. is how quickly you will see this affect you.

Well the company I work for just got bought by a huge corporation so I found out I'm getting three checks for one pay period 
. Looks like I can buy the phone off contract if I want so I'll be getting one!

I'm on the pre-order list and plan on buying off contract.. Now that I think about it, I don't think I have purchased any of my Evo's with an upgrade...

I don't care how nice a display is, if it's too small it's useless to me. Friends try to show me videos on their iPhones and they end up asking me to load it on my EVO instead because it's bigger. I think this new EVO is just going to blow it away.

:adore: Even if the company I work with (top of umbrella already) got bought out, I don't think I'd see any benefit from it
. Not that I can complain though because I love what I do and it pays enough for me to at least be able to fulfill my needs for buying new tech gadgets every year.

That puts me into a $150 discount - but not worth it for me at the intro retail rate.
Looks like yours truly will be waiting - I just won't pay retail for a phone.

EM, were you Gold Premiere when you upgraded to the 3VO? If you were, you definitely should be eligible at launch for your last 1 year upgrade.
Sprint isn't showing I'm upgrade eligible in July, but Best Buy's upgrade checker clearly says I am (based on when I purchased the Photon at launch).

Nope, no LTE in this area, so the phone is useless to me. Actually, I got fooled into getting the Evo thinking 4G was going to provide an amazing experience, but I have found that Wimax was a joke and I never use 4g. I wont get fooled again with this phone either. Until LTE comes to Baltimore and the surrounding areas, there is no need to rush out and get this phone. I will be a phone free agent in June and will wait to see if the Iphone5 will be released. Then I will make my decision on the best phone for me. I'm no fan boy...they are all just phones...and at this point they all have advantages/disadvantages over the other. May the best phone (for me) win.

Then it will be the same as EVO 4g LTE given that the overwhelming MAJORITY of people will not have Sprint LTE in their area. And with that being the case, I will make the decision based off which one is better than the other, comparing everything else they will have to offer.
Well, the Evo Shift took a swim today.
It is now going through the usual drying out procedure. If it doesn't come back, she'll get the Evo for temporary use and one of us will be getting EL TEvo on launch day.

She might not like the LTEvo for its size - she _really_ liked the Shift. Anyway, I think that if she had the chance to enjoy the new screen, she might keep it - and I know that she'll like Image Sense, she's always using her phone camera.
I guess that the most I would have to do would be to wait until November for our next upgrade.

This makes me think u shouldn't even bother with android anymore and just go with an iphone. Anybody that didn't have a great experience just from android alone on the Evo, regardless of wimax strength, really shouldn't stick with the os, IMO.
I think the android os kills the iphone as far as customizability towards each individual's needs.
