So I just got the Galaxy S2 from AT&T today and coming from an Infuse 4G, I was somewhat surprised by the difference in quality between the two devices. Since I still have both phones, I did a side by side comparison with the brightness turned all the way up and auto-brightness turned off. It wasn't even close. The Infuse was much, much brighter and the colors were much more vivid. The 4.5" screen is nicer IMO than the 4.3" screen as well. I also prefer the chrome buttons on the Infuse over the cheap plastic buttons on the S2. The placement of the power/sleep button on the Infuse also seems more comfortably placed. So, really why would I want the S2 over the Infuse other than for speed and a slightly better camera? I guess I don't so the S2 is going back.

You, too, are entitled to your opinion. So, what am I wrong about? The S2 is faster, has gingerbread, and a better camera. But the Infuse is a better built phone and is plenty fast for 90% of us.

Free choice is a wonderful thing. I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of your Infuse.
Its only my opinion that your opinion is wrong. Anyway I think you'd be hard pressed to find many people other than yourself who would choose an Infuse over a Galaxy S2.

One of the great things about Android is the fact that we all have a choice of which phone suits us the best. If you enjoy your infuse better then the Galaxy 2 then awesome, get your use out it. Thanks for the comparison as it will remind people to take a look at both phones before purchasing.

its 19 nits brighter. not a lot in my opinion and not a deal breaker since the gs2 is much faster at everything. also, the OP might be perceiving the color temperature at maximum brightness to be duller since the sgs2 hovers around 8600K, giving the display a more blueish hue then the infuse 4g which hovers around 7600K at maximum brightness.

I had my infuse stolen and long story short I ended up with a free upgrade. Just bought the galaxy s2 today and it defiantly is noticeable it just feels like a cheaper phone and the screen just doesn't compare. Its blue and not as bright and I feel like it has a lot less pixels. Im going to play some emulators today to see if the speed is actually worth it.
I just do not understand "it feels like a cheaper phone"? What does that mean? It can feel any way it wants, but do we care about the feeling or the actual quality? There haven't been too many (or any) complaints about it breaking easily, screen getting scratched easily, buttons falling apart...As a matter of fact, it's quite opposite. I mean, maybe a car made out of pure steel feels "less cheap", but it's certainly would not be my number one choice even when it comes to safety.

The larger display on the Infuse means IT has less pixel density than the GS II. The GS II's screen is superior.

The Infuse pushes the limit of the size phone I wish to carry. Plus the cases and other options for the Infuse was nothing compared to the SG2. As far as screen brightness my SG2 is set way back for full, I think about 40% and it is more than bright enough.
It IS all about choice and it will be hard the separate me from my SG2 until something better comes along.

I have the infuse and I love it! My boyfriend has the glaxay s2 and I love his phone and his is faster etc but for me I prefer the infuse. Its just the right phone for me and it's fast enough for me. My bf did admit that he liked the screen on the infuse better but he prefers his galaxy. Like I said I think that the galaxy s2 is an amazing phone but I just love and prefer the infuse. Get a phone that suits you whether its a galaxy, infuse or HTC.
Long story, but I owned 3 Infuses. I could deal with the laggy checkerboard web browsing, but the GPS performance was a deal breaker. What bothered me about this device is that GPS seemed to be perfectly happy to report that it was locked buy actually track me on a parallel street. Uhhh, I'd rather it say no lock like the Captivates! It was frustrating because I did like the feel of the device.
I can't really understand the cheap device statement on the SGS2. It's every bit as solid. Neither device sports any premium materials anyway.
Oh, I fixed the need for a 100% functional Infuse by buying a Note LOL. and I still have my SGS2 when I want to carry a smaller phone.

I also went from an Infuse to the SII and I'll never go back. For me, the user experience upgraded was night and day. I actually think the build quality is better on the SII. The border is the silver plastic layer sandwiched with the black one, which doesn't chip like the Infuse's all around chrome plastic rim. The plastic volume and power buttons provide better tactile feedback and just feel better for pressing, and I think the dark plastic actually looks great. Way less bugs, no more annoying multiple random reboot and freeze cycles, ability to handle high-graphic games, etc.
With all that said, I do agree completely on the screen. For me too, the Infuse has a much better brightness setting (when on auto brightness, for some reason, the SII's is much darker and it sometimes gets hard to see differences in darker hues) whereas the Infuse's screen just pretty much stands as the poster child of what the eye-popping color vividness AMOLED screens should be offering. Interestingly, the darker screen on the SII seems to be only for some handsets. I compared my SII with my friend's (who got hers when it first came out) and her screen looked like my Infuse's.
That one bit was a minor upset for me, but I have better pixel density due to the smaller screen, so I'm ok.
