Root I Rooted my vibrant woooohoooo

Hold on.

I did the oneclicklagfix (the app) for my girlfriend's Vibrant. At first, it was really fast and Quadrant was over 2200.

Now, the lag is REALLY bad.

If she goes into the oneclicklagfix, she gets a message that there is not enough memory, and the options to root and apply lag fix are disabled.

Any thoughts?

Undo the oneclick lagfix, unroot her phone; then redo everything. Honestly I would use the lagfix batch file from the computer, instead of the oneclick lagfix. The oneclick lagfix is just easier to use but I personally think the batch file lagfix is more stable.

Hi I'm new to android, can someone explain what rooting is?

Is it like jailbreaking for an iphone? (i am a recent iphone convert)
Thanks!

Basically yes. It allows you access to the root folder of your Vibrant to remove any bloatware and make any mods you want.

Alright, I want to unroot this b/c my superuser permission keeps on force closing. I try to go in superuser and it constantly force closes. All I really want is to tether my phone and can't do it with this method. I like the method from oneclickfix from the market. So after applying this root method, how do I unroot it so I can use the market app

N/M, I reinstalled the app from the market and reinstalled all the packages and all is good now.

Edit: I am in agreement with the poster that said that their phone was fast at first and then slowed down. I have never had a problem with the phone being slow but after the fix it was super fast. But after a couple of days, unlocking the phone, browsing, everything just came to what seemed like a crawl. I uninstalled everything and kept the root and now its fast as hell again. Like I said, I only want this the phone to be rooted so I can tether and will promptly unroot as soon as froyo comes out and allows tethering.

Please forgive me for being both late to the party and asking what might be rookie question.

I finnaly rooted my SGS Vibrant, I'll be keeping it stock for no other reason than I don't have another fully functional phone available having sold 2 phones to get the Vibrant. I've also added lag fix and Launcher Pro, hence the profile and cool icons. My question is, will I miss out on any OTA upgrades such as Froyo and/or hotfixes if I begin to delete the crap ton of bloatware on the phone? (Telenav, mobiTV, Audio Postcard, Layar etc...)

I know that a simple root wont do anything more than make my phone more functional in the eyes of T-mobile, however screwing with the out of the box configuration might? At least that's my concern. It comes down to me not wanting to unroot and figure out haw to flash back to the original configuration, bloatware and all.

Thanks in advance,
A

What lag fix did you use? If all else fails you might have to use ODIN to restore the phone. Did you pull the battery and wait a few minutes then put it back in?
