Don't hold ur breath for an answer,I asked the same question this morning and still no answer,so if you find a solution to your question please be kind and pm me with the "How to" on this.

Hi, I have the original Droid. There are ways to root this machine but they require a few to many steps. Is it possible to use unrevoked as a one step root for this phone?

I hate these type questions but in this case, I really would like to find out.;)

you did this using rom manager while rooted with unrevoked3?

I did. I used unrevoked3, installed ROM Manager, downloaded Fresh, and it worked like a charm. I did this in Starbucks BTW so you don't need your computer at all.

The longest part is the wait while downloading Fresh.

Did you use the latest Fresh? I think it's 1.0.1. Fresh says you gotta do a full wipe of phone, did you do that?

I just tried this and it works. SWEET. 4g works too without installing any additional radios or whatever. Steps I did was Unrevoked3.1 -> Titanium Backup -> Backup up all my apps and data -> Downloaded latest Baked Snack Rom zip and placed on SD card in the main directory -> Installed ROM Manager and chose to "Flash ROM from SD Card," chose the bakedsnack.zip file and it took it from there. Then after flashing I had to go through the account setup to put in my gmail account so I could have access to the Android Market. I downloaded Titanium Backup again and restored apps and data. It was far less painless than I had anticipated.

I could have downloaded and installed a ROM from within the ROM Manager app, without needing a pc, but it was taking too long to download the Fresh 1.0.1 ROM so I just went to my desktop and downloaded Baked Snack.

I'm talking about the Titanium restore end on another thread, but how many apps do you have and how long did it take for Titanium to restore them? After about 3hrs using Titanium, I gave up and restored apps using appbrain.

Yeah appbrain says I have 67 apps, for me it went through and installed them 1 by 1 so I had to say "accept" quite a few times. I'd say it took about 20-30 minutes max. I couldn't figure out how to reinstall apps from appbrain.

I'm going to try using Astro to restore my files on this ROM I'm about to flash (the same one you flashed :)). Hopefully that will make things easier.

How could this be possible when you must unlock NAND first according to the instructions for the FRESH ROM? Unrevoked doesn't unlock NAND from my understanding.

I have the latest version of fresh and did a complete wipe. You have to do that for it to work. All of my apps back up online so installing them again was a breeze.

James.

This ^

I thought this as well, but according to james we don't have to. If this is true I'll be the happiest person in the world.
