i switched everything over to GOOGLE

well, i had yahoo! email, internet explorer 8, and i am sick of it all.
so, i moved to google chrome, i made a new gmail account and
connected my nexus one. i have everything running thru google services
so i am hoping for a more seemless integration from here on out.
no more yahoo! or ie8. so far i am really happy, but only time will tell,
wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!:)
 
man i gave up on yahoo a long time ago lmao. I use gmail, hotmail, and aol. For different purposes of course. I still use yahoo, but thats my junk mail box
 
I'm glad to find this thread as I'd like to share my similiar feeling with you buddies. I am switching everything to Google since I bought my Milestone. YahooMail was my favourite but it now turns into my alternative. Gmail as well as Calendar are my 1st choice for the seemless integration. For most users, it's compulsory decision to switch or not. The fact is that you'll never able to use the calendar unless input my Google account...

I think I buy Google stuff. Open source and self-engagement are factors. Android, itself, is indeed one of thousands Google projects hosted in Google Code. The more I explore what Android gives me on mobile platform, the more services I find out interesting from Google, like GDocs, Bookmark, Notepad etc. No matter people like/unlike Google stuff, Google is doing something bigger to integrate 'whole thing' over IT.

Yes. Only time will tell. I wish I make a right decision.
 
At first I didn't want to give into Google's "we want to know more about you than you know about yourself" campaign, but if I'm going to be subjected to a battery of advertisements, I'd like them to be relevant. Thanks big brother Google!
 
Glad you made the jump. I've been using Gmail since it came out, then I kept using Google services as they came out. Email integration is great with Android phones, contact is good and calendar is ok. The best thing of having all of your contacts, emails and calendar with google is that I can switch phones anytime I want, without having to worry about contacts or appointments. Let us know how it works for you.

On topic, my reliance on Google makes Android the perfect choice for me. I've been using Gmail for years and can't imagine going back to Outlook.
 
I have no trouble at all moving to Google - don't really care if they know my contacts or my calendar. My issue is that online interfaces are awful - using the online calendar is a chore, the contacts is basic to say the least, and there are no reliable and useable sync options to desktop Outlook.
 
They don't want you to sync to a desktop, check out the google gadgets icon in google reader to be able to read offline, thats what they are moving to now.

I'm pretty much google everything now:

Gmail
Reader (not so much now I have newsroom, but want it to sync so badly.)
calendar
contacts
chrome
picasa
goo.gl (http://goo.gl/Zx4U)
 
It's become easy to keep most of what I need in the cloud and Google has been a huge part of that development. Apple is figuring it out, too -- note that they dropped DRM and recently bought LaLa, which enables users to buy music and store it in the cloud. (It will be interesting to see what Apple unveils today, won't it?)

I started using Gmail fairly recently, and like it a lot. And my contact list is in the best shape it's been for a long time now. Haven't made the jump to Picasa from Flickr yet, and don't know that I will. Chrome is on all my computers, but I don't use it exclusively.

Maybe I'm old-school, but I do like having my data stored on my computer(s) as well as in the cloud. I bought The Missing Sync for that -- expensive, but worth it to me. It's great to be able to sync my address book and download photos from my Droid into iPhoto on my laptop and to load music and movies from my desktop into the Droid. I look forward to iCal support, just because I like Apple's calendar better than Google's. It's really in Google's interest to support syncing with the applications people are familiar with, since the easier it is to use Googles apps the more people will use them.
 
You can sync to a local Sunbird app (or Outlook) for calendar, Kurlo for contacts, and Thunderbird for local email.

Google is pretty sweet. Way way better than Yahoo or Hotmail.
