Root I think I did something wrong...

Alright, So we all know there has been leaked versions of Gingerbread out for our phones. I had upgraded to .578 and then to .591.

According to droid-life, to get the official update .596 you gotta upgrade to .595.

So I downloaded the file (Verizon Signs Off on Official Gingerbread for DROIDX? Time to Prepare for the Update - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog) and put it on my Sdcard.

I try to turn on phone....stuck at red M..the update fails because of E:signature verification failed

now i'm still stuck at the red M wondering wtf i should do...

I've tried clearing cache, wiping data/factory reset, taking out battery & SD card for an hour and I still can't get past the red M...can anybody help me?

I would appreciate it so much.

Sounds like a bad download. In order to get to that point you will need to sbf to .340 and reinstall 588 then 595. Not too bad. I was able to do it all in an hour or so. Just make sure you download another 595 zip or you will probably be back to where you are now.

I'm not too big of a tech guy with these phones so forgive me if I sound stupid.

Through the power of google, I found this site, Droid X SBF . I'm downloading the top file, it says it will sbf back to an older version. I've downloaded it but now I have no idea what to do.

I feel so stupid and scared I bricked my phone. Any help is greatly appreciated

That sounds like you're trying to update from the stock recovery. You need to be in ClockWork Recovery using droid 2 bootstrap. You will have to SBF back to stock froyo as woodstorm has said. The easiest way to do that is using RSDlite. And no worries, you didn't brick your phone.

You guys are seriously a life saver! I'm back on Froyo but I don't care. I'm just happy my phone is working again.
 
Glad to hear you got things working again. If you want to get the. 595 just keep reading and learning. You'll get it down like the rest of us did......:D
