I've actually been digging around the forum for days and havent been able to find the answers to my question. I recently traded up from a tour to a droid (thank you crackberry). The phone has been/is rooted, superuser icon is in the tray, however, i dont think anything else was done to it.

using the forums i successfully installed sprecovery, backed my data up, and installed busy box.

i was wanting to use chevy's simply stunning build and possibly overclock the cpu just a lil. i dont have a ton of apps downloaded as i have only had the phone about 4 days, but when i attempt to use titanium backup it says error, could not aquire root priveleges.

how would i be able to verify the phone is rooted and busybox is properly installed? Is there a way to backup everything on my droid (if i've read and understand correctly the sprecovery puts the image on the sd card) so i could essentially return the phone to stock and start over?!?

also, newb question because i am running into trouble before i have even gotten to this step but how do i wipe the phone, lol?

thx,
nate

There's a "Problems" button at the bottom of Titanium. Clicking on it will reinstall busybox, and hopefully fix your issue.

Once you've made your backups, you can just flash Simply Stunning from recovery. It will have busybox installed already, so when you restore your apps, you shouldn't run into any issues.

to know if you rooted or not, install a terminal from the market...type su and enter if you root then you should see a # sign. To backup your stuffs, turn off your phone and turn it on again by holding the power button and the letter x until you reboot into recovery. from what i remember go to nandroid, advance backup then perform backup. there should be an option to wipe data and system in the recovery mode

wow, thx for the quick response and it worked flawlessly. as for just backing everything up i have read that going from 2.01 to 2.1 requires a wipe, is this not true?

so far i have root, sprecovery, titanium backup (which thanks to fabulous' advice also fixed busybox).

well on my way to working it out, dont necessarily quite understand everything but i'm following directions and its working, lmao.
