I think my Eris has the flu.

I have two questions, one is important, the other isn't. I'll start with the important one;

As you probably already know, this is about the Eris running xtrSENSE 5.0.1 with a whole slough of apps, cache2cache and apps2sd both. 710 Smartass. Nothing new in the past week except for the odd updates to my apps. All of the sudden my phone is soft rebooting nearly everytime I exit an app... I'll back out of the market, or the browser, sometimes regular apps and I'll be greeted by the HTC logo and my launcher reloads. Painfully annoying, and it's happening more and more in the past couple of days. Any ideas, or information I can provide to help debug?

Second less important and unrelated question... just don't feel like littering two threads on the Eris, but it looks like my browser doesn't much like to cache pages. If I load a page, turn off the screen and turn it back on, or pop into another app and back to the browser, the whole page reloads. Is this a shortfall of the stock browser, or a sly trick to try and make my data usage go up while I sit around and wait for pages that have already loaded to reload?

the browser caching will happen if you've got your memory settings too strict.

as for the rebooting...try running stock and see if its better? smartass always feel slower to me.

I'll switch back to ondemand for now and see if that makes a difference. My min is 245, max 710. I can't recall (and didn't bookmark) the article that coerced me into switching to smartass, but it was perfectly logical at the time. :)

As for the browser cache, it's maxed out at 6mb, and a lot of these pages that reload don't even scratch that. Google for example, shouldn't have to reload everytime my screen goes off, or I switch between apps.

How did you get the smartass governor? Did you also install Conap's CFS kernel? Because the default kernel with xtrSENSE does not support the smartass governor.

I'll also say that if you did install CFS, that's exactly what happened to me - things would go along fine and then suddenly the phone would stop responding. As far as I can tell, the default Zanfur kernel with xtrSENSE is the best way to run that ROM.

Therein might lie the problem? The gscripts folder that comes with xtrSENSE has scripts for enabling interactive, ondemand or smartass. If the kernel doesn't support it, I wonder what it's been doing this whole time? Does it default to another when it finds something it doesn't like in scaling_governor?

That's an interesting question. I assume that Zach put those scripts in there for people who install the CFS kernel themselves.

ondemand always works well for me with xtrSENSE. In fact, I think that the Zanfur kernel supports only ondemand and performance (which basically just runs the CPU at max.)

I put it back to ondemand and rebooted. I haven't noticed the behavior so far, but it's far too early to tell. I thought I fixed a problem in my car once because it disappeared for a month. :)

I'm still curious about what the phones been up to while misconfigured!
