Help I want the clock to stay on

Does anyone know an app or a setting which will override the phone screen settings and let me have the clock stay on (bedside clock). I tried alarm clock plus but the phone still turns the screen off

Go to the android settings screen. From there, choose Applications --> Development. Check off the 'Stay awake' option. This will cause the display to stay on as long as the phone is charging.
