I want to root but . . .

Hello all

I'm looking to root my GS2 but need some pointers. I have flashed a Frankenstein rom XWKK5 and finding it great. Anyway how would I go about rooting this? Also Im very interested in Cyanogenmod?

Can anyone tell me if this mod is any good and how it is on the GS2?
I've found while running XWKK5 my battery is good and best I've had out of this phone.

But I like the look of cyanogenmod

Thank you all for your help

Bryan

To root all you need to do is flash the cfroot kk5 kernel from the following link
[14.01.2012][CF-Root 5.2] K/EFGHIJKL*, KP1/2/4/8/A, LA2, LP1/2 -su+bb+CWM4/5 - xda-developers

Its in post #7. You shouldn't have any problems as its the same add when you flashed your firmware with odin.

I tried cyanogen a while ago and it wasn't bad. I liked how easy it was to customize but there were a few bugs which put me off it a bit. But there's been loads of updates since then so I'm not sure what its like now.

Cyanogenmod is quick and light on the system. There are other roms of a similar look and feel such as Gingermod. Basically they've had the samsunginess removed in place of a cleaner android look and feel.

Thank you both for your help.

I have rooted in the past but that was just a stock t-mobile ROM so was bit concerned about rooting a custom ROM. . .

After I root can I then go on to flash cyanogenmod?
Link to a tutorial would be great also as I cant find a straight forward one. . .

Cheers
