Root I would like to take a moment and say... HELP?

Hey guys my names Raven and I have some questions.
I've had my evo shift for about 2 months now and I love it to death.

Moving towards rooting my phone and I have some questions before I even think about it.
Can I remove stock apps if I root my phone.
Will I loose existing apps and settings and will it void my warranty.

Also on a side note when I slide my phone to expose the keyboard the screen does a "wobble" effect.
I'm really worried what this could be, does anyone else have this problem and can it be fixed?
I've been using the otterbox commuter case.

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, having root access will allow you to remove system apps (apps that came with the phone out of the box)

2. The only time you lose anything is when you flash a new rom and select the "wipe data and cache" option in ROM manager. This is like factory resetting the phone with new software. IF you don't plan on flashing roms or themes, you won't lose anything. I'm now sure about Sprint, but on VZW, the policy is: Rooting a phone will void software coverage of the warranty. But if your keyboard or any other hardware breaks (anything clearly unrelated to rooting), the phone can still be replaced.

Hope this helps!

Hey it's me again!
Thanks for answering my questions Trombley.

So I think I might go ahead with rooting it then.
I've seen people using a "perma root" is that safe?
If so I think I will root it and just remove unwanted apps.

Some more questions... What is cm7?
and can I change the home screen to the far left screen? (like a iphone)

EDIT
those questions are kinda silly I'll do some googling and might do the root soon.

Well, to answer them:

CM7 is CyanogenMod 7, which is the 7th build of a particular ROM.

Making the leftmost screen the default doesn't need root. You can do it using LauncherPro, or ADWLauncher which are apps in the market that act as homescreen replacements.
