send me a PM, and I'll forward you my single download with all necessary s/w, instructions and JD4 firmare to update to 2.1. As you're in Canada, you'll only need to add your own APN settings.

Take a note of these settings before updating, or ask for them afterwards.

.. I have no clue what ur talking about when u mention kies any help would be greatly appreciated
Kies is Samsung's latest software package for PC to connect to your phone. Kies replaces the crappy NPS software that came on CD with your phone.

Except Kies is not that much better. Sure the inferface looks good, but the functionality is lacking with the i5700. At least it works in Windows 7.

yeh from uk ben waiting ages for update through studio 7 like told , no updates and harldy recognises my phone...:(
Update the odin way. Did I say Odin? I meant update the Easy way.
With Odin.

Also, don't expect miracles with the current NPS and Kies offerings from Samsung.

You have to enable USB Debugging [x] just to get them to see your phone.

And in reality if Kies/NPS were fully working all they allow you to do is,

1. Update your firmware.
2. Edit and Manage your contacts.
3. Edit and Manage your calendar.
4. Install/Remove Apps from your phone.
5. Install/Remove data/media files.

All this can be done without using Kies/NPS.

1. Update your firmware.
Use Odin update process. See the many threads on updating firmware.

2. Edit and Manage your contacts.
Log into your Gmail account. Change/delete to your hearts content, then sync from your phone.

3. Edit and Manage your calendar.
Same as above. Log into your Gmail account, and knock yourself out.

4. Install/Remove Apps.
Ok this is a little bit different depending on what you want. You can install remove apps just fine on the Phone. Obviously you can download it from Market Place. But to install an app via your PC, copy the program (i.e. MyProgram.apk) to the SD card, enable Unknown Sources [x] on your phone, and use a file explorer, such as EStongs File Explorer to browse to the file on the SD card and install it.

Or, the more complicated way, install the Android SDK and with a little linux experience install the file from the command prompt.

5. Install/Remove data/media files.
Easy. First install the latest USB drivers (from Kies ) Connect your phone via USB and Mount the SD card. Now copy anything you want to the SD, as your PC will see the SD card as an external drive.

Why do we need Kies/NPS again?

I've just sent you a PM on what to do. Basically you need a firmware. Take note that you WILL lose all data on your phone. (except that stored on the SD card), so backup or sync before you update your firmware.

Lettuce know how you get on.

Yes. you need to root your phone to enable apps2SD.

Check out the link below for info on creating your own customisable firmware, that roots your phone, installs Apps2SD and LiveWallpapers.

and how shall i do hat, remove usb or how lol
Pull out the battery. close down Odin, remove USB.
Put phone in download mode. Restart Odin. connect USB. If this fails, try another USB port. If that fails reboot PC again. If you're using the JD4 firmware I sent, follow my instructions, not another guide.

I rang T-Mobile UK today was put straight through to the Philippines (nice touch that). Anyway after 20 minutes of asking for news of the UK firmware update I had to admit defeat. You've got to hand it to T-Mobile ,they are bloody consistent, I knew as much going into the conversation as I did after it (it's amazing how they keep doing that)

I'm hanging on until they send that update , but great video Beerkan on the Odin method by the way

I don't think t mobile will update the phone that's why I did mine with Odin only samsung said they where updating the phone and t mobile have said nothing about the update there's nothing on line from t mobile that says they are the people at twitter say there's a update but they say the same thing about all the phones that are supose to be getting the update..before I used Odin I phoned t mobile and they put me through to a tech department and I was told they don't have any thing in testing or deal with android

I have to agree with got-petrol, I was in a T-Mobile shop and was asking about the 2.1 update for my i5700, then manager talked to their technical support dept and was told there are no plans to update the i5700 at the moment.

I kicked off big style in the store and said I was mis-sold the phone as the only reason I had got the i5700 on T-Mobile was that I was promised the 2.1 update "by the end of april". To cut a long story short, after being told there was nothing they could do, the manager put me through to an american woman. I explained the situation and that I would take legal action due to the phone not being fit for purpose and that it was mis-sold, I received a new shiny HTC Desire in the post the next day at no cost. I am just glad I printed off the conversation with the t-mobile rep online before I bought the i5700.

So you can update to 2.1 with t-mobile.....just get em to send you a Desire!
