I5700 Galaxy Spica/lite officially gets Android 2.1

Can't agree more samsdroid, I've got it to say i5700(1) before which I believe means that 1 update is avaliable, but then I still cant get it to connect to the download server.

Will call Samsung shortly to find out what's going on. They put NPS 1.30 IJ1 yesterday on their DL site but since 1.40 is out I'm not exactly sure why they did it

Just flashed to the custom PDA. Runs quite fast. Faster than Original JSB. The good thing is the default home is replaced with helixLauncher, the default home which I was quite alergic to ... Lol

I keep posting this on here but no body listens to me samsung haven't released a update yet germay will be getting it before the end of march and then other countrys that what I jave read on the net

We are shouting for the consistency. Make those ****** pc suites consistent. Atleast throw proper errors if u really do wish to make people suffer!!!

What kind of update is this? Is it the new fw?

@got-petrol - There is an update, it has been released, however there software suite is not designed for the i5700/android devices.

@mrprofx - Please give us your Software(NPS) version number and how you got it to work, please tell us, it looks to be the new fw :)

Perhaps if we flash XXIJ5 on our phones and then attempt to update it will recognize our phone :)

Does anyone have an XXIJ5 firmware download, I'll attempt it.

Regards,
Andrew

I live in Norway, i used the pc studio that can be found on samsungs website, usb debugging on, mass storage off. It's a mess of crizzap to get this to work so im not sure what i did. Tried some reboots of the pc, rebooted the phone while it was connected to pc studio as suggested earlier somewhere.

But pc studio fails as soon as it's starting the upgrade :/

And i can only get it to work this far in XP.

Edit

Seems the update worked but im still on cupcake 1.5..

all im getting is can not connect to server i think it must have gone on holiday for a few week

Im having the same problems, just retry it several times and it might work. I also get the unsupported device message if the device is called GT-5700(1) or (2). If i reconnect the usb it will usually show up without () and it will work.

I tried choosing location germany and even changing the language of the phone to german but i still cant get any updates. I guess the reason i was able to update was that it had a non standard config or old version from the store.

So what should be using, kies or NPS? Or will both work?

So much conflicting info from official Samsung spokepeople. :(

kies will not detect the phone only mass storage mode with 1.5 but if yove got 2.1on it will so we have got to try in use new pc studio...I don't think that its been sorted out yet for people in the uk to update that's why it will not connect to the server

Tried 3 days in a row to contact Samsung however they seem to nearly always be closed, their Customer Service Opening Hours are pretty poor, I'll try and catch them tommorow however I am doubtful they will have anything helpful to say on the subject.

make sure you get put throught to the right department the tast time i phone they just told me a load of rubbish and didnt have a clue what i was going on about

Yeah, somthing tells me that I'm not going to get much use out of them. Hopefully there will be a way to get the official release by the end of this week, if not that Samsung has some serious support issues.

It's not the fact that 2.1 isn't out yet, it's more the fact that they said 2.1 was available(albeit only in Germany) but none of us have been able to get it because of Samsung's poor software and Android support.

Thanks,
Andrew

Recently, we mentioned that the Galaxy Spica i5700*will be getting the Android 2.1 in the near future.* Well, the wait is officially over Samsung Electronics announced today that*the Android 2.1*is now available for the Galaxy Spica.**Although this is certainly great news, I should mention that the upgrade might not be available right away The upgrade will first be available in Germany, and will gradually become available in the other European markets, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Asia, Africa and finally the rest of the world

this what it says on samsung release...

i no its got nothing to do with samsung but i think they have got it right saying that they are still sorting it out for us to update

Whenen Samsung finally (if ever!) get thier act together and release the new OS for this phone, what are the chances of it getting Mobile Flash support?

Or is Mobile Flash still in the development stage?
