(I9100P) Stuck on Boot Screen after Root

Hi guys

I tried rooting my new I9100P today and I used to have a normal I9100 but I needed to sell it.

So I tried rooting my I9100P it was on 4.0.3 LP6 so I tried to root it with this CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LP6-v5.2-CWM5.zip. I done the whole process following this guide http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...t/482994-rooting-galaxy-s2-dummies-guide.html just in case their was something different between rooting the I9100P and I9100.

I got stuck on the Boot Screen with Yellow Triangle so I booted it into Recovery Mode and Wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache. But its still stuck on the boot screen.

I can get into Download Mode and CWM recovery.

What should I do to get out of the boot screen? Should I try flashing a Stock Rom and Rooting again?

Thanks

What will that kernel do to my phone? Isn't it dangerous to use the wrong kernel cause mine was a LP6?

Taken from post #1

"If there is not a kernel which matches the letters and numbers in bold just go one number up from yours."

It sometimes happens, that with some firmwares, the exact kernel match does not work and I usually recommend trying the next one up.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums derbyed! :)

I'm afraid that the Super-One-Click method of rooting has shown to cause more problems than it solves on the Galaxy S2.

My advice is to grab yourself a coffee and, slowly and carefully, read through this step-by-step guide for absolute beginners to rooting as it will answer all of your questions...

Thanks Ironass for the prompt reply but I have taken the easy route and taken it into a phone repair shop ,the guys going to put it back and sim free it for me .. I might then try the dummies guide later but once bitten twice shy ..Ha Ha

.

No problems derbyed. As my dear old dad used to say... "If at first you don't succeed... then skydiving is probably not for you".

I brought the phone back switched on and the screen read something about a problem arose while downloading an upgrade connect to Kies and do a recovery

I'm dubious that, after flashing the wrong kernel, if it will recover via Kies. Worth a try though. If that doesn't work then I would suggest flashing the Samsung stock firmware to your phone using Odin.

Then will I be able to take your first advice and try rooting on the post you pointed out to me ..Thanks for your help

Lets take this one step at a time. You will need to fix your USB first. You can then, if you haven't already, install Samsung Kies to your computer and see if that connects and recovers your phone. If not, you will need to download the Odin PC Suite and we will have to think about a stock Samsung firmware for you to flash.

I do have Kries on my computer and have used it before I did the odin thing ... what I am wondering is whyen I've fitted the new USB card and then when I switch the phone on I get the same message about the problem with a firmware update etc and connect to Kries and do a recovery do I take it Kries does all of that automatically or do I need to download a kernel first .. I did read something you'd said to gavin about Samsungs kernels when Kries connects with my phone will it tell me what had been installed before I tried rooting and using the unstable kernel . Thanks again for the help no doubt as Arnie said 'I'll be back ' lol

I doubt that Kies will do a Recovery for you with that kernel flashed to it. In a perfect world, you would have the exact stock kernel details of your original kernel so that we could match that up with a CF-Root kernel and flash it to your phone. As it is, the best way might be to flash a whole, stock, firmware, kernel and all as I doubt you have your exact, original, kernel details. Then you can set about rooting it properly.

I did read something you'd said to gavin about Samsungs kernels when Kries connects with my phone will it tell me what had been installed before I tried rooting and using the unstable kernel .

I'm not relying on Kies being able to read anything in your phone's present state. We will only know for sure after your USB is repaired and you can connect to Kies.

Hi Ironass well seems the usb connector was faulty on the phone rusty...I fitted a new one but couldn't connect to kries so I went back to the phone repair place and they installed the latest firmware (they took pity on an oldman and did it for free ) So do you think I'm safe to now (me and the phone lol ) to go ahead with the root thing the kernel version thats on is 3.0.15-19100XWLPP3-CL287862 dpi@DELL168#3....Build number IML74K.XWLP3..basemand version 19100XXLPR.....Android version 4.0.3

I think that the phone is safe to flash... I don't know if you are. Time will tell. :D

I'm guessing that, "PP3", is not really your kernel and that you mean, "LP3".

Please, thoroughly read and follow the Dummies Guide very carefully. ;)

Hi again Ironass just letting you know mate that I've managed to get it rooted through the links you directed me too ..and I've also managed to repair the faulty usb connector that caused a lot of the problems ..I got the board from a guy on ebay and although he had to send 2 because the first one was also faulty it's all up and running now.... Again many thanks for the help you've given me I am really grateful. I just need to read up how to download stuff now and yes point taken I will check the dates. Regards Derbyed
