Newest rumor today is that an ICS update for ths Samsung S2 is coming out march 1st so maybe it could be soon for us.

But that does not mean ATT will release it soon. My guess is June or later given the length of time for the Captivate to get Gingerbread. This is not a Samsung issue - but rather our carrier.

When ICS does come out, if I update it will it take away my root? Should I wait a couple days before updating to see if there is any bugs?

It will most likely remove root from your phone, as for bugs, usually these updates take forever to come out because they are trying to get rid of the bugs, so either way, it should be fine, if anything they will send out a patch soon if bugs are reported.
