Ice Cream Sandwich?

As you guys should know the transformer will be getting a update to Ice Cream Sandwich pretty sharpish after launch.

However im currently torn as to whether I want to update to it straight away from honeycomb when ICS is ready.

The main reason for this is the issue with flash not being ready yet for ICS.
I use flash based sites constantly so being without it would be a killer for me.

I live in jolly old England so there is a chance that flash will be ready for ICS by the time I have let the laptop, and possibly before the ICS update is ready for the prime anyway.

But i was wondering what your guys would do if when ICS is ready for the Prime and if Flash isn't up and running yet, would you upgrade straight away or hold off?
 
No way in hell I would not get ICS just for Flash. Please.

Plus, Flash - just this week - was said by Adobe to be coming to ICS (the Nexus) ASAP.

Last, unless your rooted, when the ICS updates get sent to your Prime, you will have to accept it or get badger endlessly to accept the OTA update. So, unless your rooted, your not going to be able to put it off when they send it anyway.

Either way, I bet Flash will be ready for ICS by the time it gets sent to the Prime so I would not even stress it as Adobe is getting it ready for ICS for the Nexus so by the time the Prime gets ICS, I bet it will be there.
 
I heard somewhere today or yesterday, I can't remember, that there is no need to worry about flash and ics for the prime. Knowing asus, I don't think there will be a problem.
 
With limited support for ICS I'm going to hold off for awhile and use honeycomb until the apps are updated. It has been confirmed there will be adobe flash for ICS.
 
What do you mean exactly..."with limited support" ?


do you mean since it's relatively new, that it might have some bugs ?

You say this, but I am not sure how your going to have a choice to "hold off". The average guy will not be able to if updates follow similar protocol as phones.

Have you ever gotten an OTA update on your phone? It pesters the hell out of you until you finally have to accept it. The ONLY way to put it off is root your tablet and edit your build.prop file assuming the tablet uses the same file type system.

So, unless you root - and who even knows when root will be available on the Prime, likely quick but just saying that may not even be available right off the bat - how exactly do you think you will be able to "put it off" when they start to push it out to your tablet?
 
When I got the original transformer there was an update and it wasn't all that pestering to me.

Hopefully everyone can get their apps updated in time tho. It's still 3 weeks from now I bet the apps will be updated by then. I thought the release date would have been the 8th and ICS out shortly after. That is clearly not the case now. It'll be out the 19th and ICS probably out next year.

It's really not entirely new though, ICS is a polishing/continuing of Honeycomb.

If you read through that thread there are huge lists of working apps and only a handful described as having issues. I take your point that it would be nice if there were zero with issues but I'm sure the apps' developers will have fixes out by the time ASUS releases the ICS update for the Transformer Prime.
 
By new OS I mean it's a new major release from 3.x to 4.x.

I'm sure all the apps will be fixed by release seeing how it wont be out for another 3-4 weeks.

I thought one of the big deals about ics is that its supposed to be more compatible. I read somewhere its going to support all apps, even ones made for phones only.
