Ice cream sandwich!!!

I have a razr maxx HD. I love the phone, and it needs ICS to manage dual core, but you know what? Gingerbread is a better UI. ICS has a lot of "under the hood" improvements but for ease of use I prefer gingerbread. Since Tbolt only has a single core I see no advantage in ICS other than novelty.
 
I just gave my Tbolt to my wife as an interim phone till she can get something new. I switched to an iPhone5... go ahead hate me! But in the meantime I think we are crossing our fingers this comes out to fix some of the stupid issues like the data or wifi drops when using certain apps like facebook. There are just minor bugs that need ironed out as they tend to cause annoying issues.
 
Any news on the update? Let's say it does not come out, will some apps not be compatible? What else is not compatible?
 
This is one reason that my thunderbolt will be the last HTC phone i'll ever have. My TBolt was great at first. but these days its really gone downhill.

HTC releases a new phone every week. Thats how the flagship phone like the thunderbolt gets pushed into the gutter and nobody cares.
Samsung has the galaxy S phones and the Nexus phones and they seem to get good support because they don't have 300 new phones coming out every year. I'll go with Samsung or Apple next time.

I don't know that I've been too frustrated with it since after the last couple of updates. Lately it has acted up some, even locking up occasionally but usually when accessing a website. Sometimes facebook doesn't connect even when I have 4 bars 4G. It must be a facebook thing. It could also be the build up of software crud like a PC gets after a few years.

There are differences. I'm telling you I PREFER gingerbread! ICS is a necessary evil to manage dual core technology but I found gingerbread easier and more intuitive to use. I really hate ics gmail btw. I love my new maxx hd but it isn't because of ICS.

I read this post and was like "thats crazy talk". Then i thought about it, and flashed sky raider 1.3 back on and am back in love with it (although gmail is the one thing I miss from ICS). I switch back and forth between this and a G'Nex, so i can always go back to ICS/JB whenever. But i think i'll be keeping GB on the Bolt for a while anyways.

I reactivated my thunderbolt just to get the ICS update. The phone is definately more sluggish in some aspects. Flash seems to have dissapeared from the stock browser.
 
My received the update on her phone this evening. She played around with it. Still dont have a verdict from her liking it or not.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. I like some of the new features like folders, screen capture, etc. But the phone can defiantly bog down and become so slow it's frustrating. I think I'd rather have not updated my phone than have to deal with these performance issues. I'm not sure who I would contact to complain, but I hope it gets fixed.
 
As much as I like the new look and the fact that we actually got ICS, I'm tending to agree more and more every day. The only performance gain I've seen is faster startup time, but doing most other activities seem noticeably slower :(
 
The battery life increased and seems to run smoother. Was about to upgrade, but now I think I'll keep it for a little while longer.

Does a factory reset erase all your apps you downloaded as well as text messages etc? Also how long has it been. I restarted my phone and it seemed faster, but it was only for a little while before it's slowing down on everything again.

Yes, so make sure you back up all your data. The apps should reinstall from the Market after you log back in. The Factory Reset has been something that many folks (not just Thunderbolt owners) have needed to do to shake the kinks out of the upgrade. I have a Bionic and it upgraded without issue, but a friend that also has the same phone had huge issues and a FDR set him straight. If you have sluggishness, momentary freezes, force closes, etc... I would recommend a FDR.
