Root IceColdSandwich help thread

Anyone else getting garbled distorted fonts. It goes away in a few seconds. Was wondering if this is a common issue.

Update: Apparently it is a known ICS AOSP issue.

Update 2: If you enabled the back button kill function, using this clears it up.

weirdly enough, the settings on my swiftkey keyboard say haptic is turned on, yet it doesnt vibrate. complete opposite of the android one. ah well, its how i want it so ill leave it :-D

ral, is that a picture of the theme on your phone? if so where did you get it?

thanks

Aside from checking the tick box, you should select Haptic duration and move the slider to your desired feedback level.

The screenshots are from my own phone. Nova Launcher. Two Minimalistic Text widgets and everything else is default Ice Cold. The wallpaper, I think I posted a link in one of our discussion threads. Will try to find it later.

Update: Found the link to the wallpaper.

how do i take a pic of my screen if i ever need to ask questions about it? i think i read it was hold down power and press home, but that never works for me. it either tries to switch off or asks which launcher i want to use.

Settings > ROM Control > Power menu options > Show screen shot

The option will now appear when you long press the power button.

Dig around the settings. Check the Nova or Apex settings too. It is amazing what you will find in there. I have never used most of the options, but you can create some amazing home screens in there if you are the type.

ive downloaded a couple of wallpapers from your link, and ill hook the phone up to pc in a bit and stick em in the wallpaper folder if i can find it thanks :-)

Phone is back on the charger.

9:57 minutes on battery with 18% remaining
2:24 minutes of screen time (with auto brightness level set at 10)
14 minutes of voice calls
25 minutes of Symphony of Eternity :D
3G on the whole day with Google email/calendar/contacts sync and GTalk and Viber. Twitter updates every 4 hours.

I kind of get the impression that ICS 8.6.1 was a bit more frugal. But I had the phone on smartassV2 tweaked for performance (more aggressive than the default Ice Cold smartassV2 setting).

Max frequency = 1075MHz
Ideal wake frequency/screen wake frequency = 1075 MHz (921/998 Mhz on default).
Sleep frequency = 230 MHz (614 MHz on default).

Needless to say at this setting Ice Cold runs really fast.

Will try this for tomorrow:

Max frequency = 1075MHz
Ideal wake frequency/screen wake frequency = 768 MHz
Sleep frequency = 230 MHz

thanks, just enabled it and taken a pic :-)

Share the pic :)

You can stick the wallpapers pretty much anywhere. The Gallery app should find them.

Am not experienced at configuring Nova/Apex home screens. Let's hope someone else chimes in.

Blue is the color of the default theme. Too cluttered. Not sure. Will try it myself and see how it does after a day of use.

ok ive changed the theme and liking the blue, but now my notification bar at the top is light grey instead of blending in with the pic. id post a pic but dont want to litter the thread with loads of pics every time i do something.

its not easy on the eye when i pull the notification bar down, real silvery grey with blue writing which is hard to read. cant find how to change it to black like yours.

Quick question...can anyone tell me how ye can get the date and month in writein on the home screen?? I'm running ice cold sandwich 8.7 and find it very good...everything works for me so for...cheers

That's done using minimalistic text... an app that lets you create that sort of stuff :)

and its hard to get your head round. ill let you quickly know how i did mine. think i set it for horizontal 2X1, then set the text at accented 22 dip, and 20 for non accented just for a bit of change. its a bit of a faff setting up the data boxes, but if you need help just shout. i needed help so ill pass it on :-)

EDIT: just off topic, but thought it worth mentioning, ive had the best battery life ever with this rom, running the smartass governor. im well happy with it. nearly at the stage where i do a nandroid in case anything goes wrong :-)

Thanks again lads for the fast and very helpful response...cheers

I was a bit disappointed with my battery life yesterday, but I did tweak smartassV2 for performance. Today, I am have not used the phone much yes (just received 3 emails so far) and the phone has been asleep most of the time since I recharge yesterday, but 3G is on and I have GTalk and Viber running on the background.

10:22 minutes - 92% battery left, on deep sleep 98% of the time.

I will be leaving you gents at this point. Planned to stay on Ice Cold Sandwich a bit longer, but the longest I have managed to wean myself off Sense is 2-3 days :D

Also I did find an error in my governor tweaking project. This ROM has a very good range of available clock speeds, and it allowed me to track smartassV2's habits better.

Needless to say I am itching to fix and test my smartassV2 governor settings on Blackout ICS.

Will be back sooner or later. While I never spend more than two to three days on a AOKP ROM (Sense addicted), I flash so many ROM's a full 15-20% of my time is spent on AOKP ROM's.

I leave you in the capable hands of D-U-R-X and the other rebels. Back to the Death Star for me.

Regards.

Parting shot:

thanks for your help with this rom mate. as a relative newbie to this, i dont really know the differences between aokp and sense. i know sense is sort of the interface, but i dont know what a sense rom has that this ice cold sandwich doesnt for instance. i picture sense roms being full of 'rubbish' that use up the battery. am i right?

ill still read the other threads on different roms with interest, you never know, i may get itchy fingers like you :-D

thanks again
