Help "Iced" Images from Camera - thoughts?

mcaanda

Newbie
I use the camera on my Eris quite often, and as of late I seem to be getting pretty cruddy pics / images out of my little workhorse.

Currently I am running Nonsensikal v15.2 without issues since Sik released it. There's been no water, cold, dropping, ect involved and thought I'd bounce some ideas off you guys to see what what you think.

Here's what ALL of the pictures that I take with the phone look like:

They all seem to have this "iced" ( ironic huh ) look to them all. If its taken indoors, outdoors, ect...

I've just run Ti Backup on it and am going to flash 16.1 from Sik but Im not sure if its a program issue as until yesterday she's been purring along just fine.

Thoughts?

dont think its a hardware issue, looks software related, all i can suggest is reflash wht you have and see if that does it, if it doesnt then flash to your original/earlier firmware see if that helps.

Are you getting that effect no matter the battery power when using the camera?

Also, there are a few apps/filters that can be accidentally invoked when in the camera menus. Have you checked through all of those?

OK - I flashed 16.1, and it still had the same issue - I flashed xtrSense on there ( what I have my wife's Eris running ) and the issue went away. Hoping that it was something with the ROM, I went back, re-downloaded Nonsensikal and re-flashed.

Come to find out, it has something to do with the settings on the camera - I changed the settings from the 5MB to smaller as to not have such huge files, and this seemed to be the cause of the issue.

Once I re-set the settings to "default" by the programs option, all the camera issues went away. I can change it would seem, any setting in the camera except the size to which it is going to be taken - which in the long run is OK, now that I know not to mess with it.

Being that
Nonsensikal no longer supported, I think I might start to look at other ROM's, which is really too bad as I've been very happy with this to date, and TBH, is the ONLY ROM that I've used as a daily driver since rooting the little ERIS.

Thanks for the thoughts guys, your correct that it would seem to be a program issue and not that of a hardware, which is MUCH cheaper being that Im out of the 1 year replacement period and don't want to upgrade to anything currently out on the market.

You might also try a different camera app to see if that helps any. I was seeing that same effect somewhat using the stock camera, and a lot using Camera360. I haven't seen it since I started using Vignette.

Just because the dev is moved on doesn't suddenly make Nonsensikal any less stable of a ROM. There's no NEED for you to change ROMs, unless you just find one that has options you want that NS doesn't offer. It may be that kernal updates that are incorporated into other ROMs would make you want to try something new, but NS will be fast and stable for as long as you want to have it on your phone.

Mhotovec -

You are 100% correct about NS not being any less of a ROM being that Sik has moved on to another phone and is no longer working his magic on updates. It IS a very stable ROM to which 16.1 is now, and TBH, will most likely remain my daily driver till I too upgrade my phone.

I like to continue to see updates, changes, tweeks made to ROM's which is one of the reasons that I rooted my Eris in the first place. To see what dev's can do to spice up my little phone which has really gone beyond anything that I'd have expected or could dream about doing on my own.

As per the phone camera, I will check into it. I didn't even think about changing it, which is ironic being that I like to change and update the ROM's.

Thanks for the suggestions.
