Help Icredible storage problems

Lurker
I keep on getting a message that my memory is full on my incredible. I have read that I should clear the cache and that should solve my problem. The question I have is, will it delete my bookmarks and passwords? I have a few bookmarks that remember my passwords and I don't want them deleted. I will have problems retriving the passwords again and will not be able to access the site. I would apprecitae if anyone would be able to help answer this question before I clear my phone. Thanks!

It doesn't delete information, just temporary files. Mostly used by applications. You should not experience any data loss due to clearing it. :)

Alternatively, if you root there is a patch to solve "low on space". :D

Rooting is gaining administrator access of your phone. In order to do so, the typical method also gives you security off (s-off) and a custom recovery.

This allows you to flash (apply) files that aren't signed by the manufacturer.

If you go to settings, about phone, software information - you can find your android version. If you're on 2.2 then follow the steps:

or if you aren't comfortable with the termonology:

If you're on 2.3.4 it gets much trickier.

No matter which version you have or which guide you choose follow, you should take time to read the steps through and make sure you're comfortable with them before proceeding. The chance of bricking your phone is nonexistent as long as you follow them carefully.

If you do proceed with the steps, there is a patch to apply that will extend your cache:

[MOD] Ext4 4 ALL! Gingerbread AOSP + GingerSense Update: 10/27 Normal dalvik fixed - xda-developers

If you need anymore information feel free to ask! :)
