Ics 4.0 on xperia s

No, Q2 ends at the end of June.

Not necessarily. Companies choose the dates for their fiscal year themselves. There isn't a rule that those months have to be Q1. The only rule really is that you have to cut the year into 4 quarters. In Sony's instance their Q4 2011 ended March 31st which it will do again this year. Apple's Q2 ended March 31st.

Still, some like to read the quarters so that Q1 starts Jan. 1st and it might be the case here also.

either way its a bit of an insult that the older models get the update before the brand new phone! My old dear has got an Arc S so i will have a look at it on that but still i would have expected them to prioritise the XS so that they could sell it as an Android 4 phone.

I bet a few people have not got it because they didnt know it was getting android 4 and went and got Samsungs that come with it already!

How come it's an insult? I agree that it's a shame that it hasn't come yet but I like to think that they are making sure that when it is released it will be as perfect as it can be. I don't want buggy new thing inside my phone just because it's new. People calm down, it's coming! After .73 my Xperia S has worked pretty much flawlessly so if I have to choose from the current and 4.0 with a possibility and probability that it will have bugs and flaws I will stay with my current system. Don't get me wrong I want that ICS but I also want it to work..

If you people buy stuff just because they are new and shiny then I think it's tough luck for you as phones get old FAST. Samsung Galaxy SIII will be old in 6 months.. And Sony will have rolled out their next flagship in this year already.. /Rant over

Back to the topic: XDA-forums have a really wild rumor about XS getting an update rather soon. Wild guess: maybe even during this month..? :P

So what makes you think that when Sony (or any other company) make a consumer-facing announcement that they're doing something in "Q2", that they're referring to Q2 of their fiscal year? Personally, I think that is unlikely.

I was just referring to the suggestion that Q2 would have specific months. They aren't set in stone and that's how companies play with release dates. If Sony says ICS will come to Xperia S during Q2 it's doesn't mean that it has to come prior to some date. There isn't a rule when Q2 ends. If they want to give a real date when they will roll out the update then they will say "before the end of June" or something similar. Saying Q2 gives the companies more legroom..
