Okay well since Sprint has the final push I got scared that would mean no ICS update since somehow we managed to be on the end of life list now :(

So basically, since I don't currently have 4G coverage on my 3V0, I never will? That's pretty ridiculous to sell a 4G phone to a customer and charge $10 for "Premium Data" when they will have no chance of ever being able to use it. The guy at the Sprint Store told me a while back that Sprint is expanding their 4G Network and that I should be able to take advantage of it when it happens. Guess he lied?

Now I'm pissed.

I wish there would be a class action lawsuit regarding this as I think they owe us money back

And since Sprint has the final push for our ICS update if there discontinuing our device what does that mean for ICS !?!?!

I understand that for the 20th time but once again like everyone has always said updates go from Google, to the phone companies HTC, samsung, etc...then the carriers so since Sprint has the final say so on which device they push the updates too and they now discontinued our phone which soon it will be forgotten about as far as Sprint is concerned what does that mean for the fate of our ICS update!?!?!?

They are just liquidating their 4G WiMAx phones (not to mention our 3D's were never big sellers to begin with) to make way for the 4GLTE phones...it has nothing to do with "updates"...its business...why would they "keep selling" WiMax phones, when they now know they will stop expanding it and start investing their money into LTE...2 LTE phones are on sale tomorrow and more to come in the next couple of months...and probably A LOT more to come once the summer/fall phone release comes from all the companies (Samsung, Apple, etc...)

Don't worry, it's still coming. Straight from a HTC rep's mouth. I had my phone out and he said that ICS would be out soon for it. No exact time frame but I heard him say it is to a couple other people as well.

Sprint will begin roll out of Android™ Ice Cream Sandwich to customers in 2012

Sprint will begin to roll out Google's latest version of Android™, Ice Cream Sandwich, to our customers in 2012. Ice Cream Sandwich will be available via an over-the-air update to a variety of devices including Galaxy™ S II, Epic™ 4G Touch and Nexus S™ and other key products in our line-up. Stay tuned for more details and exact timing.

I'm not liking that the Evo 3D isn't specifically named (yes I know it says "other key products").

this is exactly what i was afraid would happen the moment i got wind the evo 3d was deemed end of life via sprint !!!!!! :( :( :( :( :(

Do they really care? To be honest, I don't know sometimes. If I get what I want does that mean they care? Or is it just in their best interest? You have to remember that Sprint is a business that has to make money. They don't always give us what we want. If they did they wouldn't be around too long.

Exactly my gripe! I couldn't agree more with this guy!! So now our q1 ICS update- fail early 2012 ICS update- failed now EVO 3d listed on EOL FOR SPRINT most likely means Sprint don't give a care about us nor our EVO 3ds they got our $$$ and were locked in for 1-2 more years so now I'm really questioning Sprint and their business practices and if we will ever see ICS on our EVO 3ds!!!!! :( :( :(

Yours truly,
P.o'ed Sprint customer!!!

You do realize that the link above from Sprint Community is addressing Samsung phones and not all Sprint phones as a whole.

Yes but It's the general feel of the EVO 3d community I mean come on end of life our devices out of the blue and no such word about ICS update still being offered no such word at all not a single peep come on now you can't tell me you have absolute 100% faith Sprint will stay true to this!!!

Please, let's take a minute to breathe. Sprint/HTC have said our phone is getting the update. We'll be fine.

Just because a device is past the EOL does not mean that it won't ever be updated again. I had a Droid X while on Verizon. It went past it's EOL before getting Gingerbread. The DX not only has Gingerbread, but has been given a few updates since. Granted, that was on Verizon, but still, if Sprint wants to be competitive, they need to show that they're willing to update their year old phones just like Verizon does.

The Evo 4G was the same way, IIRC. Those that had an Evo 4G, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The EOL thing is more of a marketing thing. They only want the latest/greatest on their shelves. The Evo 3D is nearly a year old, so they want to showcase new stuff.

By the time ICS rolls out for the Evo3d it will be time to upgrade to a new phone anyways. They roll out major updates so slow (on purpose I think) it makes them almost useless. How long have we been waiting for ICS now? Too long, that's the answer.

Yes. Yes, I do.

The reasons why have been stated by many repeatedly.

Nothing presented has changed anything.

We were told in January that it would not come in the first quarter of the year.

We just 3 weeks into the second quarter and I find no reason to have expected it long ago.

I fail to see the surprise here.

I'll have a Galaxy Nexus tomorrow...so I'll see what ICS is like finally :D

Jealous of this guy!! :( :( HTC you have let me down big I'm truthfully disappointed in your lack of software updates lately in a general matter not just ICS!! Stop making a new phone every day and fix the current phones and update them when they are capable of being updated !!!! Not 1year later or never!!!
