Help ICS: Error message: Network coverage is currently poor

My GEN1 also says up to date as well at 8:00 AM MTZ here in Canada.

I learned an interesting tidbit as well. While digging through packet captures of the A500 checking for updates...I was hoping to be able to change one of the values it was sending to "trick" the server into sending me the update early. It didn't work by the way, but it appears that the GEN1 does not stand for generation 1 as I, and I presume others, assumed. It appears to actually mean Generic 1. If this is the case, I wonder what the difference really is between these builds?

Supported languages maybe?

Thanks for bringing this up again. I too am very interested in knowing what is the difference between Gen1 and Gen2.

It appears that I am now getting the error message intermittently. Sometimes it reports that my tab is up-to-date (it is still running HC 3.2.1; not rooted) and at other times I get the error message.

Cheers!

Also, a GEN1 update has been posted over at XDA. The ICS updates are at the end of the first post. They are actually linking straight to Acer's official update server, which is hosted at Amazon S3 by futuredial. Remember that if you choose to download these official ROM's you'll need to decrypt them first with the tool mentioned at the top of the first post.

forgeit the ota, this is much faster. my tab is gen1, and it had something or other on the serial xxx14.xxx. so I downloaded that one and followed the instructions on the link.

download the file on the link that ciphan gave us, and decrypt it. then extract the update.zip in that archive and put it in ure sd, than restart the tab in recovery and bam, ics is in....

read the actual article for the whole info.

so far so good.
I got ics!!

Yeah, I had enough waiting. I installed this version (Acer_A500_7.014.14_041.203.01_COM_GEN1) last night as well.

Got it.... but not impressed.... seems everything runs very slowly....took 2 attempts to install.... most things also look the same...
