ICS is here!

Btw, is it possible to miss the update completely? That doesn't seem logical, I only bring it up because two different people here said they got the notification but instead of starting the update they rebooted or something, and then the notification was gone.

I have tried KIES bugged and debugged and have the hardest time connecting to KIES. Why is KIES so difficult to use?

It has to be the fact that i am not familiar with Kies is not even recognizing the tab being plug in.

Sorry guys I am new on this forum I am rooted with all stock apps I just rooted but never ventured to install roms do you guys think the ics update will come automatically or do I need to use Kies thanks in advanced.

For those having issues with Kies, uninstall it, then download the latest version from Samsung support. My problem was because I've not used Kies in a long time, it wanted to update to a newer version and couldn't do it correctly for some reason. Once I reinstalled Kies and connect the Tab, it went through and download and installed ICS.

ICS is not totally new to me as I have CM9 running on my TouchPad. It's nice and more functional. I/We don't use the Tab much more than reading news, emails, YouTube and such, and a little bit of gaming. It's only been on a couple days, we'll see after a couple weeks. :-)

How about you, mike28? Oops, sorry, I misread your comment and thought you got the update. Sorry. I did the OTA check first and got No Update found message. But when I checked for firmware update via Kies the same day, it found it. Hope you'll get it soon.

You know how many times I've tried that? No, the problem is kies won't work with hc 3.2 The only really successful method is to do a factory reset. Then it will connect, but i'm not going to go through that just for freakin ICS. I'll wait for OTA, which add of 6 a.m. today still hasn't shown up.

Still waiting as well the only issue I have is that I'm rooted I don't know if that might cause an issue I'm rooted but kept all apps intact no custom rom either

Just being rooted should not effect getting the update. At least it has not on my droid bionic.

Hope you get it soon.

At least 3 more regions have been pushed out this morning for the P7510 - Indonesia, Malaysia, & Singapore, all ICS 4.0.4

Are you saying they're done with the U.S.? Because I still haven't gotten it.
Not at all.
This is a gradual roll-out process and it may take weeks for all the devices in the US to get update notifications. There are millions of Tabs out there. That means some 750-1,000 terabytes of updates are required from the update severs. That doesn't happen overnight.

This simply means that other areas are slowly getting their updates rolled out to them too, which means even more terabytes of updates to push. And the updates stay on the servers for many months after a new update is made available, so even if you had a crash and recovered with an old version, you could still update to the most recent version months after using OTA updating.

If you're in a big rush to get the update, you have two choices:

1 clear the google framework services data and perform the update check over and over till it finally works
or
2 get the software to update manually with Odin and flash it yourself

Either way gets you updated to essentially the same version. I flashed the UK version on my Canadian branded Tab and now I have ICS without all the branded junk on mine. It's great!
:)

I just updated to ICS using Kies today. Definitely better now. Appears faster and browser is better. I had to hard reset tab to get it to connect to Kies. Now with ICS it connects all the time with USB or WiFi.

I never got (or never SAW) an OTA update notification, so I installed Kies. As soon as it connected to my Tab, I got the notification. I'm about 50% downloaded right now. Can't wait!

Nothing yet for me :(
Updated guys had to factory reset first and it came OTA finally tasting some ics it's a big improvement falling in love with my tab again :D

Thanks for the detailed response. I can wait. I just don't want to miss it. I read that someone reset their tab so they could connect to kies, and then there was no update notification, so i'm hesitant to do that. Anyway, thanks again.

Yup... The browser is faster for me as well and wifi connects right away when my tab wakes up. :)
