Help ICS mms problems and data question

Hello all. I updated to ICS yesterday. After my search and gallery would flash and close down, I decided to do a factory reset. All that seems fine now, but before that, and now, I'm having trouble recieving mms. They don't automatically download, even though I have that option set, and half the time it gives me an error and won't retrieve the picture. Any ideas and fixes? Also, data options are different. For me to afford dataI'm on a 300mb a month plan. On Gingerbread I always kept background data off except over WiFi so I don't go over my limit. Can I still do that on ICS? I've restricted my data, then used the menu button to also check the restrict option there. Is that the same as disabling background data? Thanks for any help.

Go to:
Settings > Data Usage

If you scroll down past the chart, you'll see all the apps using data and how much they've used so far. Select an app, and then scroll to the bottom. You'll see an option to restrict background data. Do it for each app that you want to restrict background data on. This only disables background data over the mobile network, so background data will still be working if you have wifi on. Hope that helped.
