While it will take a while to get all of the CM features integrated into ICS that doesn't mean we won't get ICS up and going in the meantime on the Touchpad and hopefully the Nook Color. We all love CM but none of us are fan-boys to the point that we don't see ICS as being far better suited than CM7. =)

"hopefully"?

Here's a little tour of ICS: Ice Cream Sandwich gets a two-minute tour, courtesy of a lucky eBay shopper (video) -- Engadget

HC is quite graphics intensive, esp when they didn't have drivers tuned for the Nook's hardware. I'm not sure how needy ICS is, but I suspect it will need a little better hardware.

BTW, I heard Google wiped ICS from that fleeBay user's phone. :D

Read that as well. If I remember correctly Google has the ability to remote wipe all Android phones(stock I assume) if they want to. They say it's for anti-malware purposes.

I keep seeing the rumors that B&N is about to release a Nookcolor 2 of some kind. As much as I can't wait to get ICS for my Nookcolor, I can't help but wonder if the NC2 is going to run ICS and just blow the Amazon Fire release to all hell, timing here is highly suspect. It is still unclear if the techies over at B&N are really clever or just complete idiot savants. If they release an NC2 running ICS they just win the tablet/ereader hybrid game imho. But maybe not, as that could seriously hurt the fantastic sales of the NC1. It is going to be an interesting xmas...

Depends how much they lock it down (either reader).

My HP Touchpad under webOs, wasn't at all locked down and very easy to enable dev mode (equivalent to root).

It's much, much faster with CM7.1 at stock speed (1200) than webOS OC'd to 1700.
