ICS OTA and FDR

Just got the OTA and am thinking about the FDR. Due to holidays, etc. this will likely wait until Monday when I can focus on the task. Quick question. The FDR restores the phone to factory default settings? The factory default settings didn't include ICS, so will it automatically reinstall the OTA after the FDR?

ICS will still be installed after the FDR.

The FDR will remove all the apps you installed and all the app data. If you got all your apps from Play Store after the FDR it will start downloading the apps you deleted.

If you have a lot of app data that is important to you (like you are heavily into gaming) you will want to backup the data before the FDR and restore it after the FDR. (My Backup Pro if you are not root-ed and Titanium Backup Pro if you are root-ed.)

Thanks. I don't have that much data that isn't synched, but I just dragged everything from the phone and the sd card over to my laptop, just to avoid an oops moment next week. I just got the phone in May and after 2 years with the X, I was over app fever and have settled down to a manageable level.

Going from Gingerbread to ICS is like going from Windows XP to Windows 7. That is the reason the FDR is so important. It will lay a new foundation for ICS and you shouldn't be hit by some stupid oversight/bug later on.
