Help ICS: Paste an image to the home screen

Before ICS, I had a jpg file on one of my home screens. It won't open now, but that's OK. I deleted it.

Now, how do I paste a jpg to a home screen with ICS?

Also after you unlock your phone: the lower left key brings up a menu that has wallpaper on it. You can select and edit from there.

I use EStrongs File Explorer for that. Surf to the file, long press and choose the shortcut option.
OK, I did that. Now how do I paste the shortcut to a home screen?

Before ICS, I would simply long press a blank spot on the home screen, then select what I want to put there. Now a long press only offers a choice of wallpapers.

Doing that in EStrongs File Explorer should have resulted in the shortcut on the homescreen you had up when you launched EStrongs.
