Root ICS questions

So I've tried all of the jellybean roms and I wanted to mix it up so I decided I'm gonna try out an ICS rom. Which is the best or most popular ICS rom? Another question I'm sure is somewhere on here and I just overlooked it and I apologize if it is, what can the fusion 2 be safely overclocked too? Thanks in advance. :)

I think CyanogenMod is probably the most popular ROM overall. Personally, I haven't tried it. I got SlimBean and it works well. I do have CM10 downloaded to flash... maybe one of these days.

As for overclocking, yes, quite a few people overclock theirs. I had 2 Fusion 2's running at around 1100MHz. But, I've since backed them off. The one phone didn't really need an overclock and battery life really suffered so I set it to stock. My personal Fusion was downclocked to 1000MHz for battery and because I'm using it less now that I got a tablet.

I have a question about ICS. I want to flash to ICS but iam advised by this forum to use an external micro sd card to backup my stock rom. I do not have the money to do this at the moment and would like to flash to a new android version. could i have just used rom manager and then I woun't have to backup to an external sd card or do they both require an external sd to make a backup of the stock rom. Hope to hear your opinions.

You need a SD card to backup your stock ROM. It is suggested so you can restore to Stock if you want to sell your phone, or you simply want to go back to the stock ROM.

The best ICS ROM imo is Stock Plus, but the best ROM for the Fusion, again imo, is Slim bean 4.1.2. Its fast, stable, and super smooth.

The highest it can be overclocked, safely, varies with phones (you would think they're all the same, but its not true). I kept mine at 1114(ish) but had it stable at 1132.

hey zero, i noticed on the forum you provide a stock rom for the fusion. couldn't i just use that if I ever wanted to go back to gingerbread. wouldn't it be the same as the backup that I would have made if I had an extra sd?

I would imagine that the phone's internal memory gets wiped when installing a new ROM. You can get cheap microSD cards from Newegg for under $7 with enough space/speed to do a backup.

You could, but that one isn't reliable. There is an issue where some can get it to work and others have issues.

I was going to create another when I got a replacement fusion 2, but circumstances have prevented my acquisition of another. (I don't currently have one)

When I can get my hands on another one I plan on updating that post with a more reliable stock backup.

You're correct that the internal memory gets wiped.

I saw a 2 gig card at big lots for like 3 bucks.

Ah thanks guys. Sorry it took me a couple days to get back to the forum, been super busy. I used stockplus for about a week and i liked it a lot, but it was the first one I went with and there's several of them so I wasn't sure which one people liked the best. I'm on slimbean right now cause I know a lot of people like it and I've heard good things about it and so far I love it. I'm pretty excited about Cameron having 10.2. I would love to test but if there is any possibility of messing the phone up I wont be able to do it cause this is my main phone for the next couple months.

So, is there any way to go back to complete stock? I can't seem to find the answer to this question. I'd like to try it, but I may potentially want to go all the way back - no ClockworkMod, no root, no anything. Is this even possible once it's rooted?
