Root ICS ROM question

We've seen bad experiences with minitool partition wizard (producing completely unusable ext partitions, or else misaligned partitions), which is why we recommend GParted.

What's the opinion on Mini Partition Tool Wizard? I was dreading doing Gparted again when I rooted wifeys Wildfire S but the root guide recommended the Wizard and it was a lot easier tbh.

Its the biggest pile of shit I've ever used as a hobbiest and as a professional.

flashed nikez lente last night ,seems stable enough , only thing is lack of space for apps ,most of mine have went on the sd card ,not sure if ill keep it or not

There is built in A2SD, install instructions clearly noted on the ROM first page on XDA, just need to activate through Terminal (unless that is what you've done already).

yes Des , got that activated ok ,had it running all day , a few issues with notifications and LEDs not working -ill have to read up on over on xda , good rom for anyone who likes to tinker and customize things , ill prob keep it for a few days and go back to zm redux which I thought was a great rom

I wouldnt bother with that slim one Dan stick with what youve got , ive had nikez lente ics for a few days now and will be going back to zm redux or oxygen tonight as theres no difference just a lot more work in setting things up plus the apps run a lot faster on the phones memory rather than the sd card

Are you sure the speed is due to sd rather than the ICS ROM itself? I used sd-ext for a long time with no impact on speed - even moving dalvik to sd, which some people insisted was a real performance hit, was barely noticeable if at all (i.e. I suspected the most adamant were suffering a noecebo effect).

I seriously have no problem with Nikez Lente ROM, apps on sd-ext along with Dalvik and speed is great, really smooth. Basically no difference to a GB ROM.

hi guys,

hi Jon - not sure - what sort of things? i know it is pretty stripped - but then i dont use a lot of stuff that is in most roms

@days - thanks for the warning :) just looking for something to flash really - so not too sure i want to bother with ext part and hboots etc - imo you cant beat a really smooth GB rom and a nice UOT theme ;)

id read on xda that there have been some speed issues with ics roms and ext part - supposedly down to card speed - i see that some peeps upgrade to faster card when going ext part sd - but could be the roms - maybe pushing the poor ol desire too far :D

cheers
dan

i still think there is a place for a swan song GB rom - with a really cool theme skin - using uot is ok, but a really cohesive feel would rock imo ;)

hi - ive not used it for longer than that i think - was first rom i flashed - still pretty much the same from hat i recall - but fresh after many basic gb ones
