ICS. The end of Flash Player Support!?!?!!

To the guy who made the telegraph comparison. YOU have control over that choice. You do NOT have control over what format websites choose to use. We are the end users of websites, not the developers. If I MADE a website, I could choose not to use flash. If I VIEW a website I have ZERO control over it. They either use flash or they don't. What the hell do you expect us to do, boycott every website that streams flash video? Why?? What if I want to view that content? I have NO alternative on my end, if my device will not support flash.
 
Workaround for youtube: In Dolphin HD (may work for others but I do not know) go to youtube.com/html5 and you will be opted in for most youtube videos to show up in HTML 5. It worked for the first one I tried so it's worth trying. YMMV.

Actually, yes I do expect you to boycott websites that use flash. Not by choice, but from the simple fact that they don't work right now.

This problem is ultimately on the content providers to fix, not Adobe/Motorola/Google. In the short term, it would be great for them to fix flash. But you should be getting mad at the content providers as well as adobe/motorola/google/etc.
 
Flash is pervasive on the web. I am a developer (not a lazy one btw). It is hard to do as much in as small a file in other ways. Bandwidth has gotten better but size is still important.

So it's on the content providers' shoulders? WHY? Why should every content provider switch from flash if they don't want to? Why remove the choice by force? This is a false crisis that has been created by Adobe and Android/Apple not playing nicely. Flash is still pervasive on the web. It's like if all of a sudden, Michelin and Ford decided to make it so that our cars could not function on back roads. You could yell and scream that backroads are outdated, highways are the only modern type of roadway and traffic planners should know that and get over backroads. We should just wait until all roads are highways or not drive on them, instead of getting mad at Michelin and Ford for disabling our cars from working on backroads.
 
I received an Adobe update today. Flash is still not working with 4.0.4.

I hope Adobe creates an update that works.

Yes, content providers should provide the content in a way their customers can view it on.

Look, either adobe/Android (read adobe) is jerking us around on flash, or flash is a dying format that should be abandoned (atleast for mobile use). In either case, the content providers can just switch to html5 which is a modern format that its supported natively by browsers (unlike flash which depends on 3rd party plugin that may or may not be supported on the clients platform). And in all honesty, flash has always been and will always be a crappy format for mobile video distribution. Flash its just way too demanding on the client machine.

Oddly enough no flash removal or anything on my Maxx. But as mentioned before a couple sites working now that didn't before. Sadly though, the sites that don't work are back to freezing up the browser again for me.
 
Seems like a strange move, if it's related to Android developers in any way. The ability to view Flash has always been a huge selling point of the brand over their biggest competitor.
 
 
There is a list of phones and operating system that is still supported by flash.... yes the razr is on there... but the operating system is 2.3... not 4.0.x.

...so now i wanna go back to gb
... because i really like my porn handy ;)

I can tell you this - in the six months I've had the iPad, I can count on one hand the number of times I've hit a website that I couldn't display because of flash. And for those few times, whatever it was I was surfing to see wasn't something I wanted to see bad enough to get up out of the chair and go to the computer to view the site.

I watch a fair amount of video on the tablet, but mostly Netflix, HBO2Go, Cinemax2Go and the big network sites, so I'm not that wound up about flash since I've had almost zero problems doing what I want. For those of you that do frequent sites that rely on flash, I can understand your frustration.

The point my long, rambling story? I think the ire should be directed squarely at Adobe. They created this software, got it out there and it was heavily (?) adopted, and now that it appears to be going the way of the dinosaur with HTML5 coming, it sounds like they're dropping some support for it a little prematurely to suit many folks that rely on it. I say blame them, not Google, Motorola, or anyone else.

Actually, adobe acquired flash from Macromedia. This is about monetization. They admitted as much. Which doesn't set well with everyone having to downside their households as it is. If this doesn't affect you, you're lucky. UFC.com, espn.com, several tech sites, all rendered useless to me. I'm less than thrilled.
 
This sucks. I froze FlashRemoval, installed Adobe Flash and Air, but every time I try to watch a video, Dolphin freezes. Same version of Android on my Asus Transformer plays the same sites in Dolphin with no issues. I blame Moto.
