Help ICS: Transformer Shutting Off Mysteriously

I updated to the latest firmware version released earlier today (9.2.1.17) and I've just had a reboot whilst the screen was on and now I'm in the middle of a seemingly endless bootloop. Suffice to say I'm a "little" peeved right now.

Anyone else who's updated still having issues?

I updated about 5 hours ago... GPS doesn't seem to work as the TF seems to think I am in Wisconsin (Currently in Indiana) and I already had a reboot.

Mine was showing the correct location at first, but it was using WiFi to get it, and saying it was a GPS lock. I disabled using WiFi to detect location and that is when it decided I was in Wisconsin.

I rebooted it myself and will try it again when I am outside tomorrow. It won't get a lock in the hotel right now.

Just went ahead and updated. GPS lock is also instant here..it was a concern for me as the ICS installation killed my GPS for a couple days. I think it will be a good 2-3 days before we know if this patch really fixes the shut down issues

I came across a post on xda that suggested a very simple workaround for the battery drain issue the TF101 seems to have with ICS. I'm posting that here because it seems to have also cured my random reboot/shut down issues, at least for the past 24 hours.

Go to Settings, Developer Options (click OK at the warning), and find the "Stay Awake" option. It should be unchecked. Check the box. Wait a few seconds, and uncheck the box. Back out to the home screen.

The theory is that this option is in a pseudo on-off state and this is preventing the TF101 from falling into a deep sleep. Checking/unchecking the option actually turns the option off, stopping the battery drain. It worked instantly for me and also stopped my rebooting issues. Granted it's only been 24 hours for me but so far, so good. Link to the xda thread is here.

My apologies if this was already posted.

I'm giving this a try. I also installed the latest firmware update. We'll see how it goes.

As for GPS, it works fine. One thing I noticed after ICS is that sometimes my keyboard goes wonky. It sometimes backspaces instead of typing the character I pressed.

Still doesn't fix the issue where I cannot maximise a video in Dolphin HD without locking up the browser.

I have the same Dolphin issue still. That may be a Dolphin thing though.

Reboot #7 that I witnessed... ugh.

Also got the dolphin thing. I think it's something with Dolphin, not the tablet/ICS.

read on Androidcentral as well that disabling notifications in Tegra Zone may fix the issue, but did not try yet (or the earlier-mentioned developer/deep sleep thing). Going to see if the firmware update fixes it first.

Got a GPS lock inside my apartment within a few seconds (with wifi turned off and 60m accuracy). Not sure if I had a GPS issue prior to the update, though, as I never use mapping on my tablet.

Hi, lurker and first time poster here.

I been following this issue and tried nearly everything suggested on this thread, nothing stops my asus from going into constant reboots.

Also, I havent got any firmware updates to install(tried the update check), im still on 9.2.1.11

It's Obviously an OS issue with the latest build. I'm still waiting too, don't think it will be fixed until ASUS figures out what's causing it.

Okay, I'm on the new latest update and sometime today my Transformer stopped responding. I had to hold the power button for a full 15 seconds before the tablet began a proper boot. Apparently Asus did not fix the problem :(

mine got stuck on constant reboot ...you just have to run the battery dry then it should start up ok.

I had suspected that my issues may be related to Google+. I had a G+ notification while I was out. When I got back, the tablet was fine. It doesn't really prove anything. I did not have an opportunity to get a notification before the latest update and the other setting changes for a control condition first. Still, I do feel better about the update and the changes I made. I'll see how things go.

Updated at 7:00 a.m. this morning. No random shut downs or stuck loading screens yet. Will let everyone know if/when it happens.

I got the update yesterday as well but the fix I posted above cured my random reboot and battery drain issues. Sorry it's not working for others. :(

After 24 hours uptime it rebooted while asleep (me and the tab). Hope Asus is taking notice. But I will say that apps are behaving on this update so far, such as gmail, which was almost impossible to use for me on the 1st ICS release

In 24 hours after the update, I have had one shut down and one reboot. Basically this update did not fix the most serious bug that the ICS release had.

There was no changelog with this update and still there has been no communication from Asus that they know about the issue and that they are working on it.

Are we still holding out hope that Asus knows what it is doing when it comes to Android software development?
