ICS upgrade...missing buttons

with ICS, am i supposed to get the 'Virtual buttons in the System Bar let you navigate instantly to Back, Home, and Recent Apps' on the home screen?

which sits right below the dock, but my home screen does not have that. is this because we are using the htc sense screen?
 
Your Sensation XE already has capacitive buttons is at the bottom, so the onscreen buttons won't show in Ice Cream Sandwich. Also, long press the home button for recent apps

ah..long press on the HOME button does bring up recent apps. thanks. how did you know that? was it documented any where??
 
I have installed numerous custom roms based on ICS, and long pressing the home button brings up recent apps on all of them. You will find that function being shown on Mobileburns review of the HTC ONE S or X.
