ICS using Dual Core

Hello I am just wondering is ICS actually using both cores or optimized should I say. I have not used Android since 2.2 (used boring Berry) and I heard that Gingerbread didnt use both cores so just wondering does ICS, Thanks in advance.

When I run the top command, I see processes running on both cpu 0 and cpu 1.
