Help Ideas for NFC Tags

So I've been following these forums for a while and decided to make an account. I just bought the Nexus today and I've been playing with it non stop and just remembered that it has nfc. So I wanted to see if anyone on here has any good ideas on using the nfc. I just ordered some nfc tags, just haven't figured out exactly what I'm going to do with them. Any suggestions?

I just had a great idea! I am going to be making a dock for my phone, and will be ordering a car dock... Well, what better way to automatically open up apps than NFC? Stick the phone on the car dock, boom- nav opens up. Go home at night, stick it in the phone dock, boom- it goes to clock. I think I am going to like this NFC stuff... :)

This shows how NFC will/can be used for travel. I guess once these companies are on the same page this will be a very useful, non-wallet use.

Yeah, that is all fine and dandy, until your phone dies, gets damaged, gets stolen, etc...

Do I think it would GREAT to be able to do all that via your phone? Sure, less clutter, etc... I just see too many security issues with it for my personal liking...

Well, there will always be manual fallbacks for accomplishing the tasks without a phone in case of your phone dying or whatever.

If you're worried about security issues, though, these actions should require a PIN, and your wallet can be stolen too - which probably contains credit cards that don't require a PIN.

With the NFC chip on the battery, is there any issue with all of this with swapping batteries?

The actual NFC chip isn't on the battery. It's in the phone. Only the antenna is on the battery.

And to answer your question, there shouldn't be much of an issue. I've heard that the phone might take a few seconds upon rebooting with a new battery to comunicate with the new antenna, but I've been going back and forth with the normal and the extended battery and I haven't noticed anything like that happening

Any of you guys get the Tagstand tags? I saw an article saying that there's a problem in ICS with trying to write to them, but it should be fixed in an update. Anyone try it out and use NFC Task Launcher or something similar to program them?

I have used the TagStand tags and have used NFC Task Launcher. They both work great. I'm using a 4.0.3 based ROM and NFC writing has been fixed in it. So far, I'm using it to automate toggles (like bluetooth, wifi, etc.) and also launch specific apps (like MOG while I'm in the car). It works really well. So far, I have a tag at work, in the car, and at home. NFC Task Launcher has a lot of options for toggles and opening apps, setting volume levels, and the like.
