Root Identifier Token Question

Palmetto Fellow

Android Expert
I noticed that everytime i run the get identifier token command, I get a new identifier token which is different from the previous one.

Will any of the identifier tokens I retrieve work for me, or does the phone keep track of the last token it gave out, and will only unlock properly if I use the key generated from the latest token given out?

This brings up another question. Since the HTCdev site isn't working right now (coming up on 48 hours +), I decided to email myself the token in a .txt file. All day today, I'd try inputting it while at work and never got anywhere. At this point, it seems I need to email another .txt file with the new token...but here's where that other question comes up.

Do I need to obtain the identifier token and apply the unlock token in the same sdk session? in other words, if I get the identifier today, reboot my phone, go to work tomorrow, and happen to get an unlock token worked out, will it even matter? Will I have to come home, request another identifier token, and then apply that unlock?

Up until I started this thread, I assumed that my identifier token was static, and I've now learned that it's dynamic. I am wondering if there are any deeper implications as a result.

What's the longest time it's taken someone to root? I'm coming up on 24 hours :p :(

I've used the same Unlock_code.bin file to unlock again after relocking without any problem, so I've never gotten multiple files for the same phone. Since the phone is not online to validate the Unlock_code.bin file with HTC when you flash it via fastboot, I have to believe that the difference in the files may depend on the date and time you request them and that any one them would probably work on the phone from which you copied the data to paste into the htcdev website.
