Idiot's Guide: Samsung Galaxy Precedent

^-- might want to check your forum Rukbat. I just had a Trojan alert when I went up the tree from the link you posted.
That's just a test site - someone probably uploaded some cruft to it. The files are just as I downloaded them from the original sources.

But thanks for the heads up.

I've rooted the phone. I've installed Total Commander.

All it does is show me directory after directory. where is facebook? HOW do I get RID of it

CURSE STRAIGHT TALK AND THEIR DESCENDANTS FOR 100 GENERATIONS for putting facebook on this loiusy cheap-o phone and not allowing you to remove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a precedent with a baseband of unknown. I am looking for the odin files but all the links are dead. Does anyone have the odin files for this phone?

Hello!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Precedent. I have restored it to factory settings one time and that was two months ago. Today i just noticed something that's going on that shouldn't be.

I call my voice mail, it says "calling voice mail" and then when i look in my call log it says one of my contacts first and last name and my phone number instead of saying outgoing to voice mail.

It will actually say "voice mail" for one second, then the contacts name will replace it. i tried deleting the contact and the call log still said it.

Is this a simple fix I'm somehow overlooking?

Will someone please respond to my question and help me, or refer me to someone who can help?
Its not like im that OCD and cant stand it, but it just happens to be an ex-girlfriends name that id rather not see when i call my v-mail.

thank you.

trevor.

Get rid of what? Some facebook app? If you use your browser to go to facebook there are no "facebook files". There may be cookies from facebook. Where they are depends on which browser you're using. (Cookies are browser files, not facebook files.)

I just got my samsung precedent out. I bought it a long time ago. I didn't use it because it ran off of sprint towers. I like the phone after going through straight talk and adding my service plan. The people at walmart assured me that it ran off of verizon towers. I have an AT&T phone through straight talk which I can't even use at home because I have no service at my house with it. It needs to work off of verizon towers. My question is, since I'm completely new to all of this, I need to know what my first step is. I saw the PRL's and I downloaded the CDMA workshop which i downloaded, but I have absolutely no idea what to do with these things. I even found my MSL number by using your thread. I just don't know what to do first. I saw the one click root, but then when the new thread was posted, it said Prevail. i didn't want to mess my phone up so i wasnt sure if that was the right thing or not. Please help!!!

To get service from Verizon through straight talk you need to pick the correct phone. The way strait talk service works is tied into the phone. So if you get a gsm phone you will most likely get service from at&t. If you pick a cdma phone then you may get service from Sprint or Verizon.

So what to do? Ask the sales people? Wish it was that simple. Most of them don't have a clue and will just stare at you. Pick a cdma phone, no phones with SIM cards. Of the cdma phones get one of their latest offerings. When st first started offering android the phones were exclusively from Sprint. Google is your friend.

You will not get service from Verizon with the precedent. You'll have to get a different phone. Good luck.

easy way to tell what carrier you will get. look at the bottom front of the box. if it says CDMA-S you will have sprint. CDMA-V is verizon. GSM-A is at&t.

most phones, straight talk, net 10, virgin, etc. have this code.

if i could only root my proclaim....

rename your ex's contact to something that will move it down the list.

realistically i have no idea why it would do that. i have the same phone. i ended up setting up a contact for my vm because you can't edit the voicemail number set up in the phone, and i like to have mine key in my password for me. so when i call vm, i use that.

I'm 58 years, my new samsung galaxy precedent is my 1st smart phone. I'm NOT at all computer or web illiterate I kind of need an idiots users guide to my smartphone, something to explain things on my screen, how to do certain functions and so on, and all I keep finding are forums like this one.

Please could someone link me to a real users guide.

Just posting an alternate link to the rooting tools HERE. I just recently used these tools to root my old StraightTalk phone for my little brother to play around with on my wifi. :)

hello, I hate this is my first post but I'm in need of help asap. I just opened my phone and I think I soft bricked it as I can't get the the "unlock" screen". I rooted it from a youtube vid and thought I could pull off this.
Idiots Guide: Installing [ROM][STABLE]AreaRom v2.3

I made the mistake of skipping an important steps I did not Place the AreaRom2.3.zip on my phones SD card as I understand it. I was thrown off track because the Odin didn't recognize my phone when I started the process. I asked for help and realized my mistake in the process but by then it was to late and noone was familiar with my phone. The screen I'm seeing now is saying,SAMSUNG samsungmoble.com in black and white or I can go back to v5.0.2.7 Recovery screen. When I try to reset to factory settings nothing happens or reboot and It's hard to shut the phone off it just returns to the black and white lettered screen every time but I've got it shut off now.

Please give some advice on fixing this issue I'm hoping there is a few precedent wizard that will take petty on me and my ignorance as this is all very new to me and hard to grasp the technical terms all at once. I was just hoping to have more access to vids but now I'd just like my phone the way it was so please help get me in the right direction, thanks.

Please note on first post, that these two phones can be cross flashed with a full odin image without problem. Prevail and Precedent. (m828c and m820)

Currently my straight talk flashed to boost, no longer recognises my msl when using ##DEBUG# however works when using any other such as ##3282#..

Very odd. Going to flash back to straight talk to see if the problem goes away for ##DEBUG# which I need for manually programming the phone.

*edit, yes going back to straight talk allowed me to use my spc/msl for ##DEBUG#
Also, if you change your spc to the one boost gives you. if you do a factory reset, your spc will revert back to straight talk and you'll have to change it back to boost again if you need provisioning done
