Eris 2.1 -- too slow, faulty in several ways
-----------------------------------------------
1. The procedure is simple - any cues or hints?
2. Once I re-identify my google account, I'll get back all my Contacts and Schedule info?
3. Apps for which I've paid will automatically recognize that fact?
4. Should I remove the SD card before doing it?

1. Very simple. Menu-Settings-Privacy
2. Correct
3. Yup.
4. Not necessary. The process will not touch your card at all.

And if you had not done this as part of the update (assuming you updated) you should notice a significant experience improvement.

The reset is not a cure-all for bugs and issues if your device is defective. The reset does seem to increase the likelihood of smoother functionality in many devices, especially as a last step in the update process.
