I set my current phone up for google voice with a google number and all in preparation for the phone tomorrow. Couple questions.

If I text using the stock messaging app will it show up as my regular verizon number?

If someone texts my verizon number, will it go to GV or do they have to text my GV number for it to go to GV?

I assume there really is no point to using a messaging app if I am going to use google voice, is that assumption correct?

If you mean the stock text messaging app, then yes it will show up as your verizon number, and it will be treated as an sms message by verizon.

It will go to your phone and bypass GV. GV will receive the text message if someone texts your GV number.

GV does not support mms, so if people want to text you images, you'll need to use your verizon number. Other than that, GV is great and a free way to get sms messages.
