Help If program get's stuck...reboot?

My phone seemed to be stuck in the camera mode. Touching the 'Home' icon, typing in 'search' b (or any other keyboard command I tried), and so on did nothing. Taking pictures and then trying to move on didn't work either. And so, I turned the phone off, waited, and then turned it on again. Was that the best (only?) way to handle the problem?

Yes that is what i did when my phone had that same problem only thing i did different is i removed the battery for about 5 minutes.
