A little over a week ago, I started to get a notice that there was a 'Software Update' ...
Thank God ... my phone has had no problems
My experience with firmware and software, is not to update it unless you are experiencing the problems the update fixes (unless it is a security update), or you might be getting new problems you never had ... so I have been just hitting 'Home', and making it go away![]()
All good things come to an end ... or, when one door closes, another opens?
I have the Extended Battery, but have not used it for over a Month. Today I put it in to make sure it was fully charged. When the phone started, all was fine. So, I let it charge ...
5 minutes later, I hear the Vibrate mode. I look over, and it is powering Off and On ... and a message pops up saying, "Software Updated by Verizon"; Hit 'OK' or 'Cancel''. I then notice the Hotspot Icon has changed to red, so I try to access it, and it tells me this feature costs $30. I Restarted my phone, and the Verizon Update message reappeared. I hit 'OK', and nothing happened. I figured I don't want some new Software, and some old ... so, I went into Software Update, and did a manual update, which took about 5 minutes to load.
It has been nice using the free Hotspot, these last few months. I don't use the Hotspot enough to justify an extra $30 ... but maybe I will miss it?
I just hope all the problems I read others having with this phone, I do not get!!!
My only complaint had been, if I use a lot features, for a few hours (e.g. Hotspot, FM Radio, Internet Browsing, and the occasional Phone Call) ... the Radio would start to scan for stations (and not stop), and Voice Dialer would turn on, and 'Ass Dial'. I would have to take out the battery to stop it. It only happened a few times ... so no big deal (in exchange for free hotspot, and no other problems)
