This line from the Engadget review worried me a lil and was hoping to get some feedback from you experts.....

From what I've seen with Android--I like but what is about Android that people don't like that would warrant that conclusion from the reviewer?

I really do love my iPhone! The OS is great and there is a lot about my phone that I'm hoping will similar in the EVO but I'm starting to get a lil worried that it won't be as great use for so many different things as the iPhone OS is.

Nevertheless, I have my pre-order with Radio Shack in and still very much looking forward to what I hope is the best phone on the market.

I've never known Android either, I'm still using a phone that can be termed Jurassic by technology standards, but I won't know what Android can do for me until I take the plunge. The best way to know what you want is to experience it if you want it or not. So with that said, I'd like to welcome you to the forums, and hopefully you can learn more about Android before getting your Evo by browsing the many forums of this site, specifically catered to Android users. I hope you have fun with your brand new Android experience... Cheers!

Another added benefit is that you will actually be able to make and receive phone calls, as you will be far away from evil AT&T, and their overloaded, antique network!

I'm an iPhone 3GS user and tried Android recently on the Incredible. I must say, there are a few more layers there, but I liked it. Honestly, it's the Sense UI that made it a nice experience for me. Droid alone isn't that impressive.

Here's the difference I saw... It's not as polished of an OS. In that, I mean that in my first couple of days, I had to "force close" a few apps. I've never ever had that happen on my iPhone. Not blaming that on the Droid OS, but since there are less hoops for app developers to jump through, there's more chance for apps that aren't as polished as well.

I could get into specific nit picks here, but topline, the apps aren't as great in quality (and not as many to choose from...in fact, I had to give up a few that I use often). But, the Sense UI w/ Droid was pretty awesome overall with the multiple home screens - and fluid flow.

I only took it back due to some issues with video playback (lip sync issues) - and my curiosity around this EVO, which I already pre-ordered. I honestly love the stability of the iPhone, but in the same breath, can't wait for my evo!

If you click my username and check out my post on 4/30, you can see a full review. Again, I'm willing to try again because I really want to make Android work! Love the personalization of this OS!

If you've never had a force close on an iPhone, u haven't been using it for very long. The iPhone does indeed crash and force close apps. Hell this Atomic Browser on my iPad just force closed on me about 10 minutes ago!

Just make sure you start calling the operating system "Android" consistently rather than "Droid" sometimes.

Droid is the name of a Motorola phone (and Verizon's name for a line of phones).

I think he is saying "force close", but he really means the app crashed and he went back to the menu screen.

I'm an ex 3gs user and I have switched to the Incredible. I had to jailbreak my iphone just so I could do some customizations to it and that really sucks. There is a learning curve for the android but it is worth it. Faster processor which is the 1gz., changeable battery, sdcard and these are just a few of the differences. The android is a very good phone and I love it. Only owned one week but very impressed with it. Will never ever switch back to the iphone.

My advice to the OP is to leave your iPhone at home for a full day and use the Android phone exclusively. It's hard to get a good feel for a phone's UI when you're constantly switching back and forth during the day.

I evaluated the Incredible, but sent it back after a few days (I now have an EVO on preorder). I really needed to take my own advice and leave my 3GS at home. You're going to find little things on the iPhone that you'll miss on your Android phone. I know I did. But you'll also surely find things on your Android phone that you wish you had on the iPhone. You just have to decide which piece of hardware you can live with more easily.

Don't listen to stupid quotes like that guys! Some people are just clueless, and don't know what to say! I'm a 3Gs user as well, amongst a few other devices. No need to spoon feed any of us..lol! Anyway, same boat pretty much! Really like the incredible, using it now, however its not so good on the voice quality. So I will be trying out the EVO, and if all is good, it'll be my main Personal Device for a while. If it's not as good as the hype, I will give the incredible another go round sometime at the end of June. Hopefully if I have to go down that road, any issues with voice quality will be fixed by then. Overall, really liking the Android OS...

That's what I plan on doing. I'm gonna port my number while at Radio Shack and hold on to my iPhone just incase but from everything I've read and seen in videos I'm sure I'm gonna love the EVO!
