sorry guys if i keep waffling on, but i can now access the app market, but when i hit download- i just get the progress bar- downloading............... but nothing is happening,i have 2 broadband connections at home and have tried them both, my computers/xbox/ps3 work fine- but mobile isnt.???

Don't worry mate!!

Can you access the net from your phone? Is it just the market that's not working?

Back them up to the PC beforehand, but there are 2 folders on the SD Card called Android_secure and LOST.DIR, delete them then reboot, does sort?

thanks for your posts guys.
what i did in the end was go into airplane mode,

then switch back to normal profile.

goto -
settings.
applications.
all.
downloads-clear cache
market apps installer- clear cache.
market updater- clear cache.

and pretty much anything else involving google- clear cache.

i then rebooted- and hey presto!! now im a happy bunny,although i lost all my numbers- if anybody wants me, they know my number dont they....lol

i have always used ROM manager to change roms, but i have seen a post on here to avoid using it for that purpose.... so in future do i connect use bootloader instead? also what battery app in your opinions is the best/most accurate as i need to fully charge to 4200mah...(or thereabouts) .then unplug...

oh, just wondered- does rooting your dhd make it sim free??

If you used the aahk, then I believe that it does sim-unlock.

As for ROM Manager... I have used it to download ROM's, but always boot into clockwork to flash a ROM.

Just double checked for you... if you used the aahk, then you should have Super CID (Carrier ID) - this means your phone is considered as Stock HTC (as in, not a carrier branded phone) AND it's sim-unlocked (for use with any sim)

Battery calibration is the best app, it will also wipe the battery stats for you and is definitely recommended to have if you use custom roms

Certainly is a good app. However I'd use CurrentWidget in conjunction with it. Pop it on your homescreen and wait until it reads 0mA on charge. Then open Battery Calibration and reset batt stats and reboot, once rebooted unplug the charger and not before. CurrentWidget also has the ability to log your power usage too which is helpful. Most decent ROMS at standby should be consuming 5mA and should read that level or less if you leave your phone for 2 hours without use with no sync and no data/wifi/bluetooth/gps enabled. IMHO and from experience with most Sense based ROMs based on official DHD bases.
