After sitting on the sidelines for quite a while, I made the plunge and purchased an LG Optimus V no contract from Virgin Mobile. It is a Android 2.2 model; fairly basic. I'm replacing 15 years of PalmOS devices. I was able to use JPilot on Linux to move my data from the most recent PalmOS device to .ics and vcard formats. Then imported them into Google so they appear on the LG. I'm not using this as a phone, just a wifi/offline device.

Welcome!! The Optimus is a fantastic Android phone. I know because I used to own one!!

I too came from Palm, and exported my contacts from Palm into Google. It's so nice to have wireless sync and no longer drag along that Palm USB cable (which sometimes didn't work due to USB issues on the PC).
