Help I'm getting an error when I try to create folders on external SD card

I just put a 16 GB class 4 SanDisk card into my phone, and it's found and shown correctly by the phone. However, when I try to create a folder on it - both using Astro file manager on the phone, as well as through my Windows file manager when I have the phone connected to my PC - I get an unspecified error.

I've tried unmounting the card and formatting it, but still the same error.

What's going on here?

For some reason I was able to create the folders from within the default Samsung File Manager on the phone, and files are being copied now from my PC seemingly without problems.
A odd glitch in the system?
