Help Im heart broken

Today was a bit busy for me and boy did my moment let me down. I had a 15 minute drive to the campus to register today, before that the phone was on charge from the night before and on the car charger while on the drive with a 10 minute phone call during. While waiting for almost 4.5 hours i maybe sent 20 texts back and forth, at the end of the day i had to make a very important call over to the aviation dept, i took the phone out and it was bone try dead.... not the slightest amount of juice, needles to say i missed a very important opportunity because the phone died :(

I have two days to decide if i want to take this glutton back. I do love it and its by far one of the zippiest phones i've ever used but negating how much i hated my palm pre's keyboard, everything about my old Pre pretty much trumps the fad i had with android right about now.

side note, i do have task killer running and killing all task when the phone is turned off. my battery life tends to be erratic, sometimes i'll get a day and some times i'll get maybe a few hours with use and from day one i've been following best practices. What sucks the most about this, besides the Pre, there is not another phone i would buy on sprint.

If the buildings on your campus are like the buildings on the campus where I went to school, they're built like bomb shelters, which, for cell reception, isn't so great.

I had one day where my Moment had battery life like that, and it happened to be a day that I was in a low signal area for the entire day. My phone must have been looking for a tower like crazy all day long.

Also, any chance you left wifi on? The times that I use wifi at the office and forget to turn it back off are the days that my battery seems to drain a lot faster than usual.

nah, everything was off including data. i use switchpan to turn off ALL radios until i actually need to use them and i did have great signal.... surprisingly. my pre was bad on battery but only with heavy multitasking use but this thing just seems to drain horribly. I do notice with task killer that after i kill task, a bunch just start right back up. Like the sprint instant messaging, weather channel although its not running, nfl mobile and a few others... the bastards just wont stay dead.

Wow man, I'm really sorry.

As for apps that you don't use... I finally updated to zefie's kernel and removed a bunch of apps... I've definitely noticed a bit of difference. I'd suggest doing that if you decide to keep it.

Are you running one of the new kernels with Numus's battery meter fixes?

I haven't decided if I'm going to hack my device yet or not.

I am, yeah... ZE08 is the most recent build. To be quite honest I have not bothered with a widget or other app that displays the battery percentage since I got my second Moment, only went by the stock battery icon in the notification bar... so I wouldn't be the best person to report how much of a difference the meter tweaks are making. My battery life on my second Moment is WORLDS better than my first though, I really wonder about differing build qualities on the batteries or phone hardware. I can't imagine how they'd differ, but something about this one is definitely better.

All I used to need to do to kill my old phone was drive to Roswell. Between here and there are enough reception holes that it'd flat out kill the thing in just a couple hours.

I've sent probably 300 texts today, talked about an hour on bluetooth and another 30 mins without, some crapper gaming(Robo Defense), market browsing, 1 hr of handyCalc(company meeting), a few photos to pdf, some flashlight use, and I'm at 35%. Been off the charger for 14 hours. Now that I think of it I may have set it to charge while talking on the bluetooth on the way home today, so a 20 minute booster charge.

Just thought I'd add, that would have gotten me into the red by 5 before the reflash.

Id highly recommend doing it pretty much all i can say good things about the new kernels

Thanks guys, i did ask that question in the how to thread for the kernel update but didnt get a reply as to battery life and performance boost. im gonna try it out tonight to see what happens. To be quite honest i hate blackberries, i LOVED WebOS but i hate the pre's hardware and i'd rather deal with the moment that deal with the issue people are having with the hero, especially the dust under the screen bit since im ocd. Do we have to go back to the old kernel for the upcoming update?

Likely the update will restore the kernel, I doubt replacing it would keep you from being able to accept the official update. However even on the off chance that it did, once you see how easy it is to restore back to stock kernel, you'll think nothing of it :)

I have been on ZE05 for a while now, removed the excess sprint apps that were constantly running and always using my gps. Normally at night I am at 50% battery, before the update I was always at 5-15% at night. Probably a mix between battery meter fixes and removing the apps.

Has anyone tried one of these battery packs? I see they make solar ones also. I was considering getting one to carry along to boost battery if it runs low. Ebay item 370305042130 $16.99 seams cheep to try it.

So! i loaded the new kernel last night and i've reached the consensus that i need to buy the developer a 6 pack. i took my phone off the charger this morning at 8am, i had data and everything else turned off but i txt and made calls all day and the ladder part of the evening i was on the web, IM-ing and sending emails to some of my friends and im happy to say that my phone just died..lol. That was roughly 14-17 of mild use! the new kernel is a must! i havent removed sprint apps yet but between the kernel and autotask killer on...i've gone literally and entire day. lets see if it happens again tomorrow but needles to say... THANK YOU!

@agent, what is the name of the cartoon your avatar is from?!?!

It's Coop from MegasXLR... I've been using him as an avatar partially because I did enjoy the show when it was on but even moreso because so many people insist I look just like him lol.
