Im new to Rooting, any tips?

Hello, im pretty new here. I sell phones as of just recently and am trying to learn more about them. I had a friend of mine root my Samsung Fascinate. I have played with it a bit, but dont really know what im doing. I wanted to especially know if there was an app that I can get that can let me control what apps open on my phone. Tons of my apps open all the time even after I kill them. Any help would be great. I have a few root apps, but dont really know how to use them, or if i should or not. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Well you have come to the right place N9ne Tails and welcome to the forums.

As far as apps opening, that's how android works. It's a little confusing coming from the world of windows but with Android, RAM unused is RAM wasted. Apps running in the background are not eating up your phone's resources and killing them actually drains your battery faster because it's taxing the CPU which has to start the processes right back up again.

BTW what root apps do you currently have

I have SU and Easy installer to get me started. Then I got AdFree, AndroZip, SD Booster, Super Manager, and Titanium Backup (which I do not know how to use)

Well SU gives apps superuser permission. This is mostly needed when running apps that require root.

Easy installer is an easier way to install apps off your sd card

Adfree blocks ads from showing up in apps or the browser

Not really familiar with super manager or SD booster

Titanium backup backs up all your settings, apps, and system controls. It's good for when you wipe your phone or load up a new rom and need to restore it back to a previous state.

Hope that helps.

That doesw help. Thanks. Do you happen to know of an app that lets me control what app open on my phone? Any apps that you think I should get?

I'm not familiar with an app that controls that but I would recommend Root explorer, which is an excellent file manager and setcpu, for underclocking and overclocking your processor. Great for preserving battery life.

Can't you 'freeze' apps with titanium? That would prevent them from opening.

So I just realized I put a link up to the wrong phone section, lol. Will someone put the right one up (I'm on phandroid app) and possibly we can get some better advice than I been giving thus far:)
